one question: does not harvard require sat subjcet test scoresfrom different fields of study?

@shimmer

Thanks for the advice, but what is this “anti-hook”? My hook is going to be about dance/leadership

Yah. For Harvard, you really need to make your applicatio shine. Try to tie everytihng together, and show them that you are passionate about something.

Good stats. Valedictorian and SAT is good, I’d say you’d have a shot. The bad thing is your CR, that might hurt, but your composite is good.

Chance me?

Thanks guys, any ideas on how to really stand out in my essay?

“My hook is going to be about dance/leadership”

This aren’t hooks in your case. If the dance department wanted you and sent your name to admissions, then dance is a hook for you. As for leadership, you have some great ECs. So that will help you, though still isn’t a hook.

You are blessed with a well rounded background, which will get you into plenty of schools.

Nowadays the most selective universities seem to favor applicants with clear passion in one area that make them stand out on a national basis. If you won a recognized dance competition, that would qualify as an example.

Just trying to introduce a dose of reality to your self assessment.

Thanks for the advice, I will definitely think about leadership as a topic,

Shouldn’t your essay be about an experience you had that change your life?
or just your bragging essay?

@Cheesedude, unfortunately being Asian-American/Asian will often hurt chances for admission at schools (universities especially).

yeah i know it doesnt help that ive done a lot of math competition, clubs, awards and service project for it!

should i be “un-asian” in my application?

bump!!!

Oh man ! you are the best applicant I’ve seen this morning.
With good recs and stellar essay, I think you can get in atleast 2 of those unis

could you chance me back : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1248301-chance-international-ivys-top-lacs.html

You have better chances then many other applicants, but no one has high chances at Harvard. It’s a crap shot even for the best applicants. Best of luck though!

Could you please chance me back?

Harvard gives strongest preference to Asians, we all know that on CC.

I saw their ethnicity layout had asians as the largest minority, but what will other ivy leaguers think?
