Chance an international student! Cheers :)

Aiming for the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) and Duke, both as far far far reaches (am applying to universities in England as safeties).

Selective public school with exams to get in. It is an international school in France that does the OIB (Option internationale du Baccalaureate). We have 36 hours of lesson a week along with Saturday school, along with 2 hours of travel time. We often do 8 to 6 a day, which means that we don't have the opportunity to do many extra curriculars.

SAT 1: Haven't taken an official test, but did the practice test online and got 1940 (630 CR, 650 M, 660 W) no preparation. Will prepare during summer and aim to get 2040 – 2100
SAT 2: Haven't taken, will take French (are there benefits to take it with listening?), World History and Math 2.
Unweighted GPA: 3,94
Rank (percentile if available): top 5% in France
Course load: All honours since 6th grade. Only do AP in last year. Will do:

Philosophy AP
Mathematics AP
Physics and Chemistry AP
Physics and Chemistry speciality (higher than AP)
Earth and Life Sciences AP
History and Geography in French AP
German honours
History and Geography in English AP
English language and literature AP
French (higher than AP, as in, studied as a first language)

Extracurriculars:
Played tennis for 10 years, but don't compete. Give lessons.
Performed a play this year as Rev. Hale in The Crucible by Arthur Miller Rehearsed for 10 hours a week. Will perform again next year.
Elected to the student council during grades 11-12 (two year term)
Class president for two consecutive years.
Treasurer for an association, association that raises and distributes money to various activities in school like music club, theatre etc...
Treasurer for theatre company.
Yearbook: 1 of 6 members that made it, and it rocks!

Summer: Spending it with a startup in the gold and silver business, which involves negotiating contracts for them as an interpreter for french countries and going on business trips to countries in Africa such as Madagascar or the Congo.

Other info:

I was born in South Africa, before moving to France at the age of 10. I have a a diverse cultural background with Mauritian, British and German grandparents. I travel back to South Africa every year and have visited loads of countries.
I speak English, French and not very fluent German.

International student
Public School
White male
Low income: Less than 20000 dollars. (My Dad works in the sugar cane and timber business and we had a drought last year.)

Cheers :)

Thanks so so so much if you can help me out!

No IB program?

They don’t do the IB (International Baccalaureate) which is completely different to what I do. The IB is an international way of schooling, whereas the OIB is part of the French Baccalaureate (Like the English A-levels), but much harder and far more intense, although even the French Baccalaureate is much more intense than most other school systems.

Bumpity bump di bump :)

Academically speaking, you’re fine. Your test scores, given your practice test score will leave alot to be desired. For UPenn (especially Wharton) and Duke I would recommend at least above a 2100, more likely above a 2200+. The only thing that might make you stand out to these schools, which reject even the most qualified applicants, would be your ECs, which unfortunately aren’t anything out of the ordinary. Good, yes, but not extraordinary. Therefore, work on those test scores, and you’ll have a fair shot.
