Almost all of those schools are reaches for any, a 2100 will get you in the lower end for ivies but I’m sure you’ll get into at least one of those schools but I would still suggest getting a couple of for sure safeties.

A black person with a 2100 and over is 15,000 people out of the whole world, but thanks. Gustavus Adolphus has a 70 % acceptance rate.

Ya I never heard of it, I just assumed with the name that it had to be some sort of prestigious school.

And most of those black people in the 15000 will probably be applying to the same schools that you are thinking of, that is the problem.

Lol I know right! The name really did surprise me. True, but I don’t know, I really just want one ivy haha

I understand you are black, but that does not guarantee you admission to any school. Although it may help, don’t expect it to be the deciding factor of your decision.

You are a pretty strong applicant, and I think you are on the right path for most of the schools listed. However, essays are vital in the admissions process.

BTW, is there a school you plan on applying to ED/EA… that MAY boost your chances.

I’m planning on EAing stanford or princeton. which boost stanford to 14 % and princeton to 20 %%.

Lol and dude I’m on the same page with you, I think you have a really good chance to get into at least one those top schools.

Both are amazing schools!

Lol… I guess you have a hard decision ahead of you.

Haha thanks man, I honestly have no hopes of even bracing one but you never know.

By the way, my mom is unemployed not employed haha. Sorry about that.

You have a strong academic record, but you are applying to selective and prestigious schools. As you’ve heard, your ethnicity will help I’m sure, but only to an extent. I think with solid essays you have a solid shot at any one of those. I wish you the best of luck. Are you including an in-state school as a safety/financial safety?

I have two schools with relatively 50 and 70 % acceptance rates on there- the ones in minnesota

I agree with many of the others–you have good stats, but you should still apply to safeties. Also, just in case you didn’t know, Stanford’s EA is restricted, meaning if you get in early you aren’t required to accept, but you can’t apply early anywhere else.

I have safeties.

“A black person with a 2100 and over is 15,000 people out of the whole world, but thanks”

congrats and all, but is that not a bit of an overstatement? Yes, that is the number of African Americans that took the SAT that year, with that score, or above. Nice job, but why put it like that?

BTW, I watched the stats of black students admitted to Duke from about 2006 to 2010, and I think your odds are pretty good there, unless you are applying to the school of engineering, in which case I have no insight.

It really isn’t. That’s that statistics. Not making it up. Thanks but I have no hopes. Just going to do my best.

I think what Shrinkrap is saying is that, while the scores are excellent. Your are sounding a little full of yourself (correct me if I’m wrong Shrinkrap) by stating it in such a way. You’re banking kinda hard on your ethnicity, and while it helps a lot it still won’t solely get you in. You’re stats are great, but they won’t get you into the schools for sure. Not at all, and it’s that way for everyone.

What I meant was, it is unfortunate that such a small percentage of African American kids have those numbers, and I don’t like todraw attention to it, at least not in a public forum. I don’t like to focus on race in college admissions at all, whether they are advantages, or disadvantages. In addition, while being an elite black test taker is nice, you have to have some other things to make you competitive. I think alargeblackman does, and that should be emphasized. I think it also has to be acknowldeged that many of these things are blessings/luck/genes etc, and not always because an individual is just awesome though his own merit.
