Please chance my friend - he would really like to know his chances. yeeeeep

Bummppppppppppppppppp. I forgot that he is a Secretary of the club, not a member. So he has an officer position.

Penn, UCLA, UCB, and Stanford are not good bets. I would apply to the others if I had those stats, though. They’re all good schools. I wish your friend the best of luck.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/781283-smith-mt-holyoke-bates.html

Chances for Stanford and UPenn aren’t looking too hot. His SATI is looooooow. CSF, “Introduction to Investment” (not sure what that is), and Key Club will not help him unless he holds positions of leadership. Piano, unfortunately, will not be too big of a help since he’s Asian (I’d assume Chinese). Likewise, the 790 Chinese and the 5 for AP Chinese will not give him any advantage (and some may even argue it would be against his chances).

GPA is also a tad low for the two schools above.

On the plus side, if the company is legit, it could serve as a minor hook.

Stanford - high high reach
UPenn - high high reach
Berkeley - high reach
UCLA - reach/low reach
USC - reach/low reach
NYU - low reach/high match
UCSD - high match
UCD - high match
UCI - match
Santa Clara - unfamiliar

Introduction to Investment is a club that was started at our school that teaches the basics of investing and the importance of learning about investments (the very basics), because we live in an area where many people don’t know this stuff.

CSF is California Scholarship Federation, which is statewide I think, so I assume you don’t live in California.

The company is a school run company and he is the CEO of it (he gets 8% or so of the money; the adviser is the Business teacher). I believe they made 14,000 dollars last year.

No, I’m in CSF and I’m aware what that is (I happen to be vice president in the school). I just wasn’t sure what “Introduction to Investment” was.
