I was wondering how competitive club sports are in general. I've ran cross country and track all four years of high school, but I wanted to try something new like soccer or volleyball. Should I try out or will I be a laughing stock considering I didn't play in high school?
I'm going to Butler University if that makes a difference.

I think it depends on how popular the sports are at the college. The more popular, the more people (with potentially more experience) will tryout. I think it can’t hurt to try. Just keep in mind the time commitment and the dues for club sports. And if that doesn’t work there’s always intramural!

Like VaCollegeGirl said, it depends on the sports and the college. At my school, it’s extremely difficult to make the club soccer team, but the women’s rugby team practically begs people to try out. At other schools, sports in general are not a big deal so club sports are not taken seriously and thus are open to virtually anyone.
