Chance at Engineering

Hi, I'm a senior right now. Planning on majoring in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Could you guys chance me or recommend good EECS schools in my range? Thank you so much!

My Stats:
1st SAT I: 2210 (CR: 750 M: 760 W: 700)
2nd SAT I: 2240 (CR: 740 M: 770 W: 730) (No improvement (><)ノ)
SAT II: 800 Math II, 800 Chem, 800 Bio E, 800 US History
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.970
Weighted GPA (out of 5.0): 4.567
Rank: Top 3%
AP Scores: Calc BC (5), Chem (5), USH (5), Macro (5), Micro (5), US Gov/Pol (5)
EC: Mock Trial, Academic Decathlon, (the rest really aren't noteworthy)
Ethnicity: Chinese /(;--)

Senior Courseload:
Physics (highest level, no APs)
European History AP
Psychology AP
Java AP
Statistics AP
(Technically, I'm auditing MV Calc since I failed the first test, but by school policy, my audit gets erased as if I've never taken the class.)

What are my chances at:
Harvard
MIT
Cornell
UMich
CMU
UToronto (Conditional since I'm required to take either Physics SAT or Physics AP by the end of the year)
UIUC
UMass Amherst

Harvard - Reach
MIT - Reach
Cornell- Mid Reach
UMich - match
CMU - match/low reach
UToronto - no idea
UIUC - match
UMass Amherst - wow…why even ask? safety on a safety
Your stats are fine, they will get you through to the holistic decision making. I am assuming you have good ECS, if you do not, cross off the top schools on your list for the most part. They are reaches for everyone and no ECS really takes down your chances.

Thanks, lobitos. I’ll chance you back.

UIUC is a match? My friend told me that UIUC was a very likely safety for me. It would suck pretty bad if I don’t get into UIUC, and don’t qualify for admission in UToronto.

Whoops my bad. I am not too familiar with UIUC

UToronto? In Canada? Make that a safety school with your grades.
MIT and Harvard - High reach
Cornell - Reach
CMU - low reach
rest i don’t know

Thanks, Daniel! UToronto in terms of grades and cost is my safety. I’m only applying to UMass since I don’t qualify for admission in UT’s Applied Science and Engineering unless I get a good score in Physics SAT or AP by the end of senior year.

I would call CMU a reach and not a low reach since you are in ORM and engineering is one of their most competitive programs. Other then that I agree with what the others said…

Sorry, I’m not familiar with the acronym, what’s ORM?

Over represented minority.

Can you elaborate on your extracurriculars and add on your essay topics? I’d be able to chance you more accurately… As of now, asumming all you really have is Aca deca and Mock trial, I’d prob call the top 20 UP-Reaches, CMU- low reach, and rest matches/safeties.

As an engineering major, you really should strive to have focus in your extracurriculars and express your passion in science/engineering in your essays/abstracts/w.e.
