I have looked at assist and I am hesitant on applying to UCLA/UCB because I would need to take more classes. Counselors have told me that I have a chance at UCLA but I highly doubt I have a chance because it’s so competitive. Will it be a better idea to simply aim for UCSD or should I aim for UCLA/UCB also? In addition, I have also thought about private schools because of the financial aid (low income).

A chance is a chance, you’ll regret not taking it if you do not. Are you transferring from CSU SD or from a CC in San Diego? Transferring from a CC in San Diego will help your chances at UCSD as you’ll be a local. Anyways, your grades look great, the biggest thing is maintaining a high and competitive GPA, good ECs, fulfilling class prerequisites (although I’ve been told sometimes not having all can be made up for with good grades), and a strong application. Honestly, take your chance and you get accepted then the chance paid off. Don’t wanna be stuck at a school you deeply and truly do not want to be at.
