I am currently a freshman in high school but in August i will be a sophomore. UF is my dream school and I want to know if I'm off to a good start of getting accepted. Currently my freshman year gpa is:
Weighted: 4.375
Academic: 3.9
Unweighted: 3.5714
Class ranking: 147/774
This year the classes I took were:
English I honors
Geometry honors
French I
Culinary arts
World geography honors
P.e
Earth space science honors (I regret not taking biology)
Next year I'm going to take:
English II honors
Algebra II honors
French II
Biology I honors
Chemistry honors (online)
AP world history
African history honors
International relations honors

I would love any comments good/bad on how I'm doing so far and if I should make any changes to my schedule next year!

Calculate your UF GPA and let us know. Your weighted GPA varies significantly from your unweighted GPA, so I’m guessing your school calculates it in a unique way.

Okay so I tried recalculating my gpa but I kept getting really off numbers so of you could just give me advice about my classes that would be great

To calculate your UF GPA, add up your class grades (academic only) based on a 4.0 scale with +1.0 for DE/IB/AP and +0.5 for Honors courses. So an A in your English I Honors would be a 4.0+0.5=4.5; a B in French I would be 3.0. Add all these up then divide by the number of classes. I believe that would be your UF GPA if I recall correctly (someone can reply to this and correct me )

Your class schedule for freshman year was ok, but you should try to incorporate some AP or Dual Enrollment classes. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but it’s really going to help you. Remember that colleges look at your freshman, sophomore and junior years, so waiting to take AP or DE classes until your junior year isn’t the best.

What are your extracurricular activities? UF has a diverse and somewhat unpredictable application process. Make sure you’ll have plenty of things to fill up the application!

Overall I think you have had a great start to high school. Luckily you have the next two years to perfect your application to UF :)

You need to try to take core classes that you are pretty sure you can get an A in to boost your GPA the electives do not matter…except for class ranking which is important to UF…need to try to be in top 10%…plus do many extracurricular and run for offices if you can. Captain of a sport. Ect.
