<p>So, I have a friend who is applying to the U of M for Fall 2012. </p>
<p>His credentials
- 3.95 GPA
- Top 10% class rank
- PSEO Student at the University of Minnesota (taking classes there)
- Applying to CEHD (Business + Marketing) and CLA (Political Science)
- ACT is a 23, which is his weakest part of application.
- First Generation</p>
<p>I believe he will get into CEHD, but his ACT may hurt him for CLA.</p>

<p>I don’t see any reason for denial. But that’s just me.</p>
<p>Ask him to re-take ACT or take SAT or maybe both (for safety). You’d get this exact response from most users here anyway. If he couldn’t for whatever reason, include an explanation as to why he fared that low on ACT and make a statement of re-taking it soon in case he’s thriving for priority deadline and no ACT/SAT exam date is available but beyond.</p>
<p>He applied last week because if he were to re-take it, it would be too late to meet with priority deadline. Thanks! I don’t know about CLA, but CEHD should be ok because he is just 1 point below the average for ACT and above average in class rank. </p>

will know decision by Dec 15th because of PSEO status</p>
<p>I dunno man but those impressive stats alone make up for the ACT score. And I’m pretty sure there are more than a few applicants who fared lower on ACT
