I once vowed that I would never start one of these threads; I am now eating those words. I'll keep this short.

I'm trying to compile a good group of schools to apply to; feedback is appreciated.

This looks great. Get your SAT up. Get 750-800 on two SAT IIs. I’d say you have a good chance at Bowdoin and Rice, and you’ll probably get into one of the others. Your GPA is very impressive.

Really balling Extra Currics and AP’s. Two perfect scores on the SAT is immensely impressive, even with a low math score. Schools will understand that you are a literary focused student, particularly when you get a bit higher math for the retake. Penn is a reach (it is for everyone), but I think you have a great shot at the other schools. Brown, while a reach, seems like a great academic fit for your English focus. Good luck!

…if your math score is a 520, schools may "understand’, but it will hurt your chances for admission. Only 5% of Cornell’s incoming freshman class last year had SAT Math scores of below 600. I would recommend taking the ACT for the following reasons: 1)Since only total ACT score must be reported by colleges in the Common Data Set,a low subtest score is more easily forgiven (SAT CR & M are individually reported) 2) The math subtest is only 25% of the total score (50% of the score that colleges care about on the SAT) 3) A critical skill in scoring well on ACT is ability to read quickly & comprehend, which would appear to be a strength of yours.

Penn - Reach
Brown - Reach
Rice -Low Reach
Amherst - Low Reach
Claremont McKenna -Match
Emory
Tufts (legacy) - Definite match
Bowdoin - Match
Cornell - Reach

I think it’s pretty apparent you’re good at what you’re good at in terms of linguistics and the humanities, coupled with your excellent ECAs, you just need a good essay to get into most of the schools there

Claremont McKenna is the 10th most selective school in the country, very similar to UPenn. It’s not a match school. 2300s and above have been waitlisted by them.

Your stats are barely in the 25% for Penn and Brown, so they’re reaches for you.

Amherst is also like CMC extremely selective- not a match for anyone.

You have a very good chance in getting into Emory and Tufts.

Cornell, Rice, and Bowdoin are not as hard to get into, but their test averages are higher than yours and they are selective- around 15% acceptance rate for each of them

I would say to get your SAT scores up, and you should have a good shot at any one of those schools. I’m thinking your safety is Rice. The others I would say range from matches to safeties as well.
