Chance for Class of 2016!

I’m a rising senior who is applying early decision to the Newhouse School at Syracuse University. I want to double major in Broadcast Journalism and Sport Management so my second choice for school is the College of Sport and Human Dynamics.

I’m a straight A student, with a 4.0 GPA and a weighted 4.44.

I have already taken AP courses: AP Calculus AB (A+), AP Psychology (A), and AP World History (A). I also plan on taking AP English Language my senior year.

I have taken Honors Earth Science, Honors Chemistry, Honors World History I, Honors English 9, Honors English 10, and Honors English 11.

Senior year schedule: AP English Language, Newspaper, Statistics and Discrete Math, Environmental Explorations, Broadcast Journalism, and US Government

I plan on finishing with 4 years of English, 6 years of Math, 3 years of Foreign Language (Spanish), 4 years of History, and 4 years of lab science.

I got a 2020 on my SAT: Math 720, Reading 630, Writing 670

I volunteer as a student journalist for VivaLoudoun.com.

I also announce the varsity sports events at my high school. I’m the class president, I play on the varsity baseball team, I manage the varsity girl’s basketball team, am a member of the National Honor Society and History Honor Society, played football my freshmen year, was a member of DECA my sophomore year, and also attended the HOBY conference in 2010.

Please let me know what you think my chances are. Thanks!

I am not too familiar of the requirements of Newhouse, but you have a great chance of getting into Syracuse. You have strong SAT scores, high GPA, and good ECs. I would say you’re good, but you probably want a better opinion…

You’ll definitely get into Syracuse. Don’t worry about it. :)

Your stats are great and ED is a good way to go. Make sure you go for an interview.

Yeah, I think you are in lock for Newhouse. Not only do your stats match up, but I believe students who have solid resumes’ and apply early to Syracuse have a better opportunity anyway… As mentioned above, go for an interview if you can. It can really help in the admissions process.
