You don’t need to if you enjoy what you are doing. If you’re doing a bunch of different things that you don’t like so much, then you would need to focus them.

I just did what I wanted to for extracurriculars and I got accepted for transfer to Northwestern (it’s no HYP, but the transfer acceptance rate is close to the freshman rate for HYP).

True. I mean i think I went pretty far for the things that I did participate in, but I think what theyre getting at, is that for HYP theyre trying to make a well rounded class, not admit well rounded ppl. Therefore, I should focus my ECs to fit a specific niche in the class. But I don’t know how.

Boston Coll: High match (almost a safety)
Brown Univ: Match (I wouldn’t go so far as to say its a safety but its definitely a match)
CMU: Match
Columbia: A reach (but then again, isn’t it a reach for everyone?
)
CU: High Match
Cornell: Match
Dartmouth: Reach
HYP: Reach-High Reach
MIT: Low Reach
Johns Hopkins: High Match

thanks for the feedback! any suggestions to make the other ivies more obtainable?

Honestly it’s a yes to all kinda dependent in ur major choice even the too tied school, ivies and mit are low reaches for u. Test scores high enough to not reject u there are everything is perfect the colleges will see u are a diverse student and want u for that. As long as u can fit all of that into the application the most important part is that u use all ur time effectively can’t say that of all people. Chance me Back

wait what…lol i dont understand what ur talking about.

The majority of these colleges are reach but I will have to say your stats look good. CMU looks like a match for me.

sure…and a match for u? lmao

lol yeah definitely a match

ok haha save it for ur thread lol. But yeah maybe well both get in. Anyways, anybody esle for MY chances

I mean u seem awesome with what u do but there doesn’t appear to be any passion in one place. Tht needs to be what shines otherwise no college will give a **** about you and just say next

@sherwoodbrad i hear yah. im trying to focus on business, but how do i demontrate such passion?

Business? I do see that but just stress that a ton. U have ur own business stress that luxster thing and ur web and app development and ur talks at like Wharton which is amazing. If business is what u want here are by far the best. Harvard stanford and u Chicago. Believe or not one of the most important things these college look for is potential later in life, u know so u can donate a Ron later, and u seem to have it. Please chance me back

i already chanced u lol and yeah, but how do i stress it, shud i limit my other ECs or just talk about it in my essays?

I know but idk what act score I need to have a great chance. But yes talk about in essays if ur truly passionate about business it will be easy to talk about in essays plus when the colleges look at intended major they will search for the passion and will see it in what u have done. Seriously man do not worry. Worst case scenario, u only get into one Ivy League school lol

Don’t not include other ecs terrible idea

I want to major in electrical engineering and minor in economics.
