u have a really good chance and being from the south will work to your advantage

Yes.
.

For the main common app essay I talked about my father having cancer/difficulty finding a job. I told how that affected my perception of the word.

Your chances are great. You have the hook of being an URM, along with having a great GPA and SAT score (which can be compared nationally) while being from the south, as jdlace said. Even standing alone, your extracurriculars are not bad - your vocal talent is probably the biggest factor here. The other ones show some leadership, but besides that are not very unique. If your main essay about your father and your familial situation was well-written, which I’m sure it was, then you are again unique in that aspect as well, and clearly a very capable candidate.

I would say Cornell, Duke, Rice is a low-reach-match, while all the other Ivy’s are a mid-reach. Don’t know too much about my LACs though. Good luck!

Ok, you have a great shot. I hope we can go to Duke together!!
