I’m looking to major in something business related or economics. Looking at Harvard, Wharton, Cornell, Washu, University of Illinois, University of Indiana, University of Michigan. I know that I have some reaches, but I am content with going to U of I; I don’t feel I need many other safties. Also I’m from Illinois. Thanks for your time.
Yeah, well you seem to have a good idea of where you are. You’re probably not getting into Harvard, Wharton, Cornell, or WashU. Mich is a target school.
You do have a chance on those schools but you know the admission rate is low. For UMich Ross, it would be a reach. But for LSA, it would be a low reach. It would help if you can bring the test score a point or 2 higher. The mid 50 ACT there is 30-34 while the OOS admission rate is around 20%.
Whoever said you dont have a chance at Harvard has no idea what they’re talking about. Harvard is a crapshoot for literally ANYONE; I’ve seen Valedectorians with 4.0 unweighted gpa (on a 4.0 scale) and good SAT and ACT (2200 for SAT, forgot what they had for ACT), AND STILL GET REJECTED. So yes, your chances are slim, but so is EVERYONE ELSE. None the less, apply.
What’s your GPA on a 4.0 scale? (I’m assuming the one you provided was on a 5.0). Your ECs are pretty good and your ACT is great. The biggest thing when it comes to students like you is your drive and your essay portion; everyone applying to top schools are smart, so its really just a matter of who wants it most and who appears to be more dedicated.
Thanks for your opinions guys. I’m aware the chance of getting in is low just wanted to see if I’m competitive. And at Issac my gpa on a 4.0 scale is 4.0.
