Chance Me And I Shall Return The Favor

Hello everyone, I am a rising junior in an extremely competetive private school in LI, and I am looking for some ideas about how and where to apply. I am an Israeli-American, and I am the youngest of 4 brothers and sisters (BU, Harvard, McGill). My family is a very ambitious one, and they have long pushed me towards top colleges (I have already visited a couple), but I am nervous as to whether I am good enough. For the record, it should be noted that my strongest application creds would come in interview, essay, and recs. I know I am not as flashy on paper, which worries me. I have yet to take the SAT, those those are a projection based on previous practice tests and PSAT. I would really appreciate some opinion and suggestion on adding something, improving something, etc. I will chance back if a link is given. Thanks!!!

of course i feel obliged to say that in a class of 30 people, it is a lot easier to hold leadership roles than in a class of 450…i feel that skews an otherwise pretty solid resume…penn, harvard, columbia are unlikely but u have a fair chance at the others…

BC- No
BU- match
William and Mary- in
Columbia (I know)- no
SUNY Binghampton- in
GWU- ? in?
Harvard (again, I know)- lol
Johns Hopkins- no
McGill- idk
NYU- big reach
Penn St.- in
U of Maryland (Park) - in
UVA- reach since ur OOS(its really hard i hear)
Georgetown (number one)- no
UPenn- NO

any suggestions?..because I do have 2 years left.
also, to karbinator, while i do go to a small school, the student government is a big deal and very contested.

Boston College - Low Reach
Boston University - Match
William and Mary - Low Reach
Columbia - Reach
Binghamton - Match
GWU - Match
Harvard - Reache
NYU - Low Reach
Hopkins - Reach
Penn State - Low Reache
U Maryland - Match
UVA - Reach
GTownn - Reach
UPenn - Reach

If your classes are as hard as you say they are, then you should self study for AP tests because it’ll look a lot better because with no honors and no APs, your chances are very slim for some of these colleges (UPenn, Harvard etc). Don’t worry about it though because you have time. Just kill the SAT’s and I would suggest getting a true safety school, maybe like Adelphi or SUNY Stony Brook?

Chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/730207-i-will-study-get-ready-perhaps-my-chance-will-come.html</a></p>

bumppppp
bump

^^^ LOL penn state is not equal to nyu

does being in state help with NYU?

Boston College - Low Reach but you can do it if you raise the math
Boston University - Match
William and Mary - Match
Columbia - Reach (but it is for most applicants)
GWU - Match
Harvard - Reach (for everyone)
NYU - Low Reach (but expensive!!)
Hopkins - Reach
UPenn - Reach (again for everyone)

Bring up the math SAT!! I know you can do it!!

How competitive is your school? Also, i dont think NYU looks at in state or out of state.

Will you chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/730600-different-way-chancing-suggestions-very-high-sat-somewhat-low-gpa.html</a></p>

as bad as it sounds, I am really average at math. I have spent SO much time working on it, but math is the main reason why my GPA is low. I’m working really hard to raise my SAT M.

my school is pretty competetive. This years class OF 25 sent people (or were accepted to)
UVA, W&M (3 people), Swarthmore, Rice, Duke, Georgetown, JHU (2 people), U Chicago (2 people) NYU (2 people), Yale, Cornell (2 people), Oberlin, …
Another question: since my class in extremely competetive (compared with all the others even), will that hurt my chances?

THANKS!!!

What’s your UW GPA on a 4.0 scale and what’s your W GPA on a 4.0 scale?

we dont have UW GPA’s, and I have no clue what my W GPA is…
by 12th grade, it will be between 90-92.

Adelphi? no, his grades are way too good for that. It has some strong programs if you know what you want, but he would probably be board thereconsidering his grades and experiences.

to those who said no to most of my schools, are there any you would suggest in particular. I am extremely interested and active in politics and international relations and its what ill be studying in college.
Obviously, Georgetown is my #1. …

^^american university. Same location, same specialties

I think that since you are only a sophomore your SAT math as well as the other SAT scores will raise just as you learn more in school. I feel like wih good essays and higher SAT’s you could definitely get into Gtown, oh and you should prbly take a math/science related SAT II so that you seem more well rounded, biology is a good SAT II that is science but is still easy for english/history people

which biology test?
also, what would be a goal score for me if im not exactly a genius at the sciences?

I think you have a chance at all but HYPMS. You know how those places are…
