Chance Me Because I Seriously Don't Know

OK, to keep it simple.

I am currently a junior in a very competitive small private school in LI, NY. I have recently taken a long look into some colleges that might fit me, but many people are just pointing me in different directions, leaving me kind of unsure where to go.
So, I was hoping that you "Resident experts" could help me out!

I am an Israeli-American, and I am the youngest of 4 brothers and sisters (BU, Harvard, McGill). My family is a very ambitious one, and they have long pushed me towards top colleges. However, my less than excellent grades make me think I am not good enough. That having been said, I am much better looking off paper than I am on. My numbers are not my thing. Everyone I know says that. I don't know what the hell my chances are really anywhere, so I was hoping for some direction.
I do know that I plan to major in political science or international affairs.

Academics:

GPA - Unweighted: will end up around 90. (Freshman year was 85ish because I just really had no idea what the hell to do, sophomore was 92 because i woke up, and I expect that it will stay there for the next two years).
GPA - Weighted: no AP's, all classes are AP level, and there is only one class im taking that is not advanced.
Class Rank: No Rank.
Class Size: 30

Scores:

SAT I Math: 600-630 (hoping to raise that--I am going to take classes and getting a tutor so we'll see)
SAT I Critical Reading: 680-750 (scores have varied accordingly as I practice but that was my general score...)
SAT I Writing: ~720 (same as above)

SAT II U.S. History: 800
SAT II World History: ~750
SAT II Spanish with Listening: ~650 (hoping to raise)

Extracurriculars:

Significant Extracurriculars:
-- Head Delegate, Model UN for 4 years
--Founder/Editor in Chief, Carmonreport.com (staffed website I have been running since 9th grade)
--Syndicated paid Columnist, YoungWriterBlock.org, Allvoices.com--
--Piano, 11 years
--School Newspaper, head political columnist
--Teacher, Politics and Debate Club (I started and teach this class. Twice a week)

Leadership positions:
--President of Freshman Year
--President of Sophomore Year
--Student Body President (youngest in school history!) Might be next year too...
--Captain, Varsity Soccer Team
--Founder/Moderator of Politics and Debate Club
--HOBY Ambassador

Athletic Status - list sport and your level:
--Varsity Soccer, 4 years, Captain for 2--(league champions!, some awards).
--Varsity Baseball 4 years (awards)

Volunteer/Service Work:
--Intern/Staffer, Eric Gioia for Public Advocate (NYC). I staffed fundraisers, volunteers, and ended up running GOTV operations on election day in Jackson Heights, Queens.
--Field Organizer, Obama campaign
--Volunteer, Community Service Club
--Volunteer, Waldorf Choral Society
--National Voice for Reason
--School Ambassador

Honors and Awards:
--Soccer and Baseball distinctions.
--2009 NYTV8 Speech Competition winner at Columbia University
--school doesn't give awards until late junior year and senior.

Anyway that's it. I still maintain that my best qualities lie in areas that I fear colleges cannot see. I know exactly what I want to do (work in politics, serving the people and country that gave so much to me).
I am like bffs with my principal, and he says that my best advantages are leadership, charisma and things like that (not trying to be cocky...just frank). I would appreciate all words of criticism, encouragement, and advice.

Please chance me for:
Georgetown (possibly EA)
GWU
BC
BU
NYU
Harvard
Fordham
Johns Hopkins
American
UConn

EDIT: I should also mention that I am almost tri-lingual.
(spanish, hebrew, english).
I have also extensively traveled around the world.
Thanks in advance!!

Harvard seems extremely unlikely considering the state you’re from, your ethnicity, and your SAT scores.

Georgetown (possibly EA)-low reach/high match
GWU-match
BC-match
BU-match
NYU-high match
Harvard-reach
Fordham-in
Johns Hopkins-reach
American-in
UConn

Average test scores/decent GPA/outstanding ECs.

You’re in/high match/low reach at except probably Georgetown and Harvard…the second seems veryy unlikely simply because your SAT scores make you immediately uncompetitive. Georgetown you have a better shot, esp with EA.

so, about where do my SAT’s need to be in order to be competitive?

For Harvard or JHU, you need not only a higher SAT (close to 2300+), but that gpa is way low. You have great ECs, so JHU would be easier to get into if you break 2200, (but, especially high M and CR is needed…i.e. strong 700’s). Harvard is incredibly competitive and unless you start pulling a 4.0, and a 2300 it may still be a reach.

and what about GW, NYU, and Georgetown?

GW, NYU, probably a match. Georgetown, would be a reach unless you get up to the same level of JHU. My cousin went to Georgetown and she loved it, but she was also very gifted academically, valedictorian, 4.0 uw gpa, and graduated at 17 from hs (jumped from 7 to 9th grade)

Georgetown (possibly EA)-reach (raise your SAT score)
GWU-don’t know
BC-slight reach
BU-Slight reach
NYU-slight reach/mid-reach
Harvard-big reach (as it is for almost everyone)
Fordham-in
Johns Hopkins-don’t know
American-match
UConn-in

It’s hard to give accurate chances though until you final (or near final) test score stats come in. You have great ECs though :)

Concerning G-Town, I think you can get into the regular school, but it is a reach for SFS, which is where I’m sure you want to go. Same for Harvard, their Foreign Services program is better than G-Town’s I’m pretty sure. Those schools are like 1 and 2 in that department. I’d work on the scores, mainly, you could probably raise them with a class or something. My main regret is not taking any prep. You also have sooo much time to figure this out, half those schools won’t even be on your list next year.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/782305-emory-rice-usc-duke-princeton-etc-chances.html

with a school as small as yours, your college counselor would be a better person to assess your chances at most schools…what is the history of admissions to said schools from your HS? do they have a relationship with the GC? do colleges understand the rigor of your curriculum without AP’s?

All of these factors are more important than the responses you will get here…

yeah our school is pretty well-recognized.
last years (like 25) seniors were accepted to georgetown, uva, duke, swarthmore, william and mary, cornell, and nyu no problem).
and my sister who went to harvard, graduated from my school (and she was like 4th in her class…)

Georgetown (possibly EA) - Low Reach
GWU - Match
BC - High Match
BU - Low Match
NYU - Match
Harvard - High Reach
Fordham - Safety
Johns Hopkins - Reach
American - Low Match
UConn - Don’t know

Georgetown (possibly EA)-low reach
GWU-match
BC-match
BU-in
NYU-high match
Harvard-high reach
Fordham-match
Johns Hopkins-reach
American-match
UConn-match

good luck!

bump10char

lol those ECs are great, but those leadership roles are not much when your class size is 30…

competitive magnet schools with 500+ students, thats where the leadership ECs look very good

Georgetown (possibly EA): High match
GWU high match
BC match
BU match
NYU low reach
Harvard reach
Fordham match
Johns Hopkins low reach
American match
UConn match

Does anybody else have any suggestions for a school in the east with a strong political science program that i might be good for me?

bumpppppp
anything else?

If you are going to do politics, you need to be by an epicenter, i.e. NYC or DC, going to BC or BU will make it harder to get good internships than GWU.

Nobody can really give you suggestions because your schools range from small to large, city to suburban. A lot has to do with the school as well. Many kids want a small atmosphere, and not be a number, some want to be a number with more opportunities.

Your personal choice is also a factor in making suggestions.
