Apply early and you’re in, easily.

What is considered early? My son will be applying this fall.

good question

^^^September/October

My daughter applied at the end of October last year and had her acceptance letter in hand by late January. Soon thereafter they posted a notice on the website saying scholarship money was no longer available, so that’s another reason to apply early. I believe the application was available in early August, so start looking for it then.

One benefit of applying early is that your HS guidance counselor will not yet be overwhelmed with other application/counselor rec requests. He/she will have more time to concentrate on your needs.

Unless things have changed over the last couple of years, IU’s application is very easy to complete. If you can, get it done before you go back to school. Once school starts, there are a million and one events & activities, not to mention the classwork, that will distract you from working on your apps.

It’s always a shame to read about kids with great scores and gpas, that waited too long to apply and miss out on scholarship money that they would have received AUTOMATICALLY if they had applied earlier.

You’re fine I got in with a 3.3 27

if i sent my app off in early to mid nov. would i still be eligible for the auto scholarships?

The priority date for merit scholarships last year was november 1st. Assuming it’ll be the same days this year, you should send it off earlier. The IU app is really easy; it requires no essays and takes about 20 minutes.

I also like Indiana University- Bloomington, though I hear it’s not that well with financial aid for need base students.

if i write essays, will i be a better candidate for other types of scholarships?

As you can learn from reading the scholarship page, many IU scholarships begin the selection process based up stats.
