Interview went as well as it could, I felt we like we had no common interests and couldn't really stay on the same topic with him for long, but he seemed to like me. The guy said he'd write me a good recommendation at the end, although I don't really know what that's worth haha.
Essays should be good.
Recs: teacher ones should be good, no clue about GC one.</p>

<p>Brief sketch of ECs:
I've been playing piano for a long time. I play in a lot of local concerts and placed in various regional/state level competitions (2nds and 3rds). I'm sending a music supplement. </p>

<p>I'm auditions officer for a selective music club in the local area.</p>

<p>I started a chess club at my school. We typically meet weekly, I've also hosted a school-wide tournament. Also started a program to teach chess to elementary school kids.</p>

<p>Very active on the math team, various regional/state awards. Also do a lot of math independently (USAMTS, AoPS).</p>

<p>I taught CPR at the local red cross for the past 2 summers as a volunteer.</p>

<p>I attended NJ Gov School of Sciences this summer.</p>

<p>Various other school stuff.</p>

<p>I think you have an ok chance? I can’t say much more. Your SAT II’s are great and SAT I is not bad. Your math and chess activities will surely help you. </p>

<p>Bump… no one else? I’m kinda worried about my low gpa. I have a 3.83ish UW. Will that be a problem?</p>

<p>How many kid(s) from you school went to MIT or high IVYs (HYP) last year? If you are from a super tough school, you might have a chance.</p>

<p>I’d wager a 20-33% chance. Definitely plan some safer schools for RD.</p>

<p>Last year we had 2 Princeton, 1 Yale, 3 or 4 UPenn, 1 Columbia, 2 Cornell. Class size is about 120ish.</p>

<p>We’ve never had anyone get into MIT for 9 years… and probably more but that’s as far back as records go. Meh…</p>

<p>Even perfection gets denied from MIT. I know they are trying to become more cultured or whatever, so your ECs seem to lack some strong social aspects.</p>
