So I really want to get into Cal Poly, but I am unsure if I will get in. I know cal poly is very selective, but they do accept people that hav the highest gpa and sat and deny them. Also they do accept people with bad gpa and sat scores.

Do you think I will be able to get into Cal poly with a 3.83 unweighted gpa and a 900 sat ( just math and reading). I am very active in extracurricular activities with cross country and track, being captain of both teams. Also, I am mixed ethnicities if that will help any. What are my chances??

What is your major? Admissions can vary by major.

how could you have an unweighted GPA of 3.8 yet a low SAT score of 900?
makes no sense unless your school gives As to most students.

Take the ACT or re-take the SAT. Your scores are simply too low.

You need 1200 at the minimum to have a good chance.

You have the ability to write two flawless paragraphs yet average a 450 in CR. All is not right in this post?

Assuming you are serious:

Cal Poly places great importance on GPA, class rank and test scores

EC’s count for very little

Ethnicity does not count at all - CA state schools are banned from using any affirmative action

Each college has a different target - engineering and computer science are the hardest to get into. Someone could get into liberal studies and have a lower GPA/test scores then someone turned down from the College of Engineering.

Trying to game the system by applying for a less selective major and transferring after getting in does not work - the colleges do not allow it.

Please Chance me. Thanks in advance. Cal poly Slo. industrial engineering

please let me know thank you

Bring up SAT and you’ll be fine

■■■■■! you actually spent time dumming down your writing. That’s just kind of sad.

Honestly, I had a low ACT score and I got some practice books and retook it and I got a 32! Possibly redo that to ensure that you will get in just fine! Other than that, you look like you are in good shape!
Chance me back maybe?
