Hey guys!
Please let me know what you think my chances are for getting into the School of Computer Science, assuming my essay is decent. If you don't think I'll be accepted, please say whether I'm lacking just a little or if I'm a long shot away, and if there is anything I could do to boost my chances, besides taking part in a huge competition or anything like that (a bit too late for that).

Thanks!

I am a rising Senior.

Sex: Male

Ethnicity: First generation Asian American

Education: Central Jersey School with around 800 students in my graduation class. We do have a handful of students who get into Ivys. (Harvard, Princeton, most recently)

-I have a older, graduated cousin who attended CMU. Also, an older cousin attending Cornell (Don't know if that would help, I know CMU and Cornell are competitive with each other)

GPA: 4.45 Weighted
I get all A's, with one B.

AP- AP Calc BC (5)
AP Physics B (5)
AP Language and Composition (4)

Will be taking...
AP CompSci
AP Physics B
Calc III and Differential Equations (Technically not AP, but same difficulty)
AP Chinese (I am Chinese, but I am Cantonese, not Mandarin. This is a whole new language for me, I don't know much Cantonese to begin with.)

-All other classes are Honors.

-High Honor Roll since Freshman year.

-I have never taken APUSH, and in my senior year I will not be taking a history (I absolutely hate it!) Will this be a problem? Should I take some type of history class?

-Also, I did take AP Lang Comp as a Junior, but will not be taking AP Lit as a Senior. My teacher did tell me that shouldn't be too much of a problem in terms of college applications, because I am still keeping AP classes in my schedule, but what do you guys think? Should I take AP Lit? I'm not certain I will do well, however. Also, I will have to quickly read two hard summer reading books. :x

-I have been in Orchestra since 5th grade. I have been in the most advanced orchestra available. (My school has an academic level and an honors level orchestra)

Scores:

SAT I: 690 CR - 800 M - 760 W - 10 Essay
This was over 3 attempts. The score above is a superscore.
2250 Total.

SAT II:
770 Math I
800 Math II
740 Physics

Extra Curricular Activities:
-Math League since Sophmore year. I will be a captain as a senior.
We have two monthly competitions.

-M.A.D.E.
I am in Healing Notes, a section under M.A.D.E., a volunteer club. I go to the local hospital and play soft music in the lobby. Each session lasts one hour.

-Piano lessons for 10 years, senior year will be my 11th. These lessons include tons of recitals.

-Violin lessons for 7 years, senior year will be my 8th. These lessons also include recitals.

-I am part of NHS, Chinese Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Science Honor Society, if it means anything.

Volunteering:
This section is somewhat weak for me.
-Volunteer Orchestra with a benefit concert
I've been in this orchestra for two years now, with a total of about 36 hours or so

-Healing Notes, M.A.D.E.
I have around 26 hours of this.

Yup. That's it. A measly 62 hours. Does CMU consider volunteering important? If so, I'll try to rack up as many as I can before applications go in.

Awards:
-ABRSM Piano Exams Grades 5-8 Passed (8 is the highest level)

-ABRSM Music Theory Exam Grade 5 Passed

-MAMTG Piano Competitions
2nd place the two times I tried, in the categories Open Solo Senior and Grade 8 Senior

-High Team Scorer Award in the American Regions Mathematics League (ARML) competition, representing Central Jersey.

-My school orchestra did participate in a new jersey orchestra festival, in which we received the highest ranking. (it was graded in ranks (excellent, okay, decent, etc.), not in numbers)

Leadership:
-Math League Captain as a senior (more info when I become a senior :x)

-Volunteer Orchestra
I was a section leader in 2nd Violin, with responsibilities to organize rehearsals, note who could come and who couldn't, tune my section, play strong to motivate my section, etc.

Summer:
-During 7th, 8th, and 9th grade, I attended the Center for Talented Youth (CTY)
one course was in Intro to Comp Sci

-10th grade - Rutgers Young Scholars Program in Discrete Mathematics, we learned things such as combinatorics, graphs and applications, number theory, etc.

-11th grade - UMaryland Young Scholars Program - course was Intro to Comp Sci
-revealing myself to compsci again because my CTY course was in 7th grade, had forgotten much of it.

Thanks much for taking your time to read this. Message me or reply in the comments if you want me to chance you back!
