I’m a junior right now and need some opinions on my chances for applying to Dartmouth ED or if I should use my ED somewhere less competitive, I would really appreciate any feedback!
Along with legacy (dad was an undergrad but not a donor) my brother was just admitted into '22
GPA:
Unweighted: 3.79
Weighted: 3.9
(Freshman year GPA was super low but near 4.0 after that)
ACT:
Currently a 30 but have only taken it once and can hopefully get it up a couple of points
AP’s*:
Freshman year: AP govt and politics (5)
Sophomore year: AP Comp govt (5), AP European history (3), AP Psych (4)
Junior year: AP English Language & Composition, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Human geography, AP U.S. history
Senior year: AP Environmental science, AP Computer science, AP World history, AP world lit
- it is pretty likely that I get national AP scholar
Essays: Obviously haven’t written yet but writing is my strength so they are going to be good. My current idea successfully ties all my EC’s together showing how I express my passion for advocacy and focusses on a pretty intense life event that is super compelling.
Letters of rec: Probably going to be average and no better
EC’s:
Newspaper: 3 years, Editor-in-chief, writing was published on some sites, a few awards
Speech and debate: 3 years, captain, some achivements but nothing very outstanding
Model UN: 3 years, captain, tons of awards
Dance: 10 years, tons of awards
Summer internship with state senator (just one summer)
Volunteering at domestic violence center (about 200 hours over 3 years)
Probably will major in political science
I am a white female from a wealthy public school that has a reputation for being super rigorous
Main weaknesses: GPA, ACT (if it doesn’t improve), non-advanced math or science, my EC’s don’t produce a very cohesive narrative about me
If not Dartmouth, I am interested in Barnard, Tufts, Middlebury and others along those lines
