highschool ranked in the top 50 by newsweek

Where is your highschool (what state)? A lot depends on that.

In terms of Stanford,

SAT score should be 2250+
EC's are weak... nothing that shines out - have you won any awards?

Ranking is low too, regardless you are ranked top 30. How many people at your school graduate into top schools like Stanford?

NC and around 15-20 go to ivies, stanford, duke etc.

Ec's are not weak, what is wrong with people on this site? 200+ volunteer hours, talent in both soccer and orchestra plus other clubs add up to average ECs at least. You don't have to pour EC's like sprinkles on a sundae, colleges actually like kids who invest a lot of time in a couple of activities.

Stanford's a reach, 'cause your ECs don't really distinguish you.

hmm actually... ive always wondered...

does going to a school which doesn't send many grads to top schools beneficial or not if you have an outstanding record?

It might not because it shows your school is easier to get A's?
or it might because it shows you exceeded amongst others in an environment that probably is not that academic...

you're in at duke, cuz you live in nc.
rejected from stanford.
in at chicago.

what 2200 is low for stanford...'2250+'..that is just BS...my friend who was international got into stanford with a 1900...youve got everything just work on that essay for stanford...youve got a good shot..GOOD LUCK!

is it easier or harder to get in as an international student?

harder by far

are you counted as international if you are in the process of getting a greencard during the period of admissions

ok yeah, 2250 plus is bs, u got a 1500 out of 1600 and thats whats important bc colleges dont have the data to use the writing wholly yet. u scored better than 40% of stanford's incoming class, i refuse to listen to the idea that all of them r URM's or athletes or potential donors even if a proportion are. chicago is based on ur essays bc u have the grades and scores but they are random as are the others, stanford is a reach cuz of ur rank but not out of ur league bc admissions r crapshoots at stanford and duke. u should apply to more safeties though for sure.

^^ I think you're missing the point. A 2250+ SAT score would help to offset the somewhat weak ECs, thus increasing the OP's chances.

what would be considered a strong EC
