Chance me for Big Ten schools

unweighted GPA: 3.4
weighted GPA: 3.6
ACT Score: 28
volunteer experience: 4 years
work experience: none
Athletics: 2 sports (all 4 years)

Not a chance unless you're recruited for sports.

especially University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

UIUC is going to be a reach if that's all you have on your application. Where are your EC's? Where are your awards? That's not much, and your numbers aren't spectacular either, or even what would be the average for the school. Right now, all you can do is try to get a better ACT/SAT, so aim for a 32, and you'll have a much better shot.

rej from top 10 schools

what are the big ten schools?

He meant the sports conference the Big Ten.

Wow you guys are really nerds...;P

Big 10 is a Midwest sports conference...

I think you'd have a decent/good chance at Ohio State, Iowa, Indiana, Mich St., and Purdue. Wisconsin and Northwestern will be a stretch/big reach.

..............bump, thanks for your replies

purdue and indiana are very easy to get in.
Iowa,MSU are not difficult to get in,either.

bump.........

In at every school except for Michigan and Northwestern.

Merit aid at Iowa ($3020/year), Ohio State ($8250/year), Indiana ($6000/year), Michigan State ($4000/year).

Illinois would be a good option being in-state paying those rates.

Don't look for financial aid from Wisconsin, Purdue, Penn State and Minnesota. If you can't pay the price listed, I would advise you not to apply.

wassup with wisky's financial aid?

It's non-existent. All loans.

Agreed with A2.

bump..............

I don't know about Indiana, Iowa or Ohio, but I know that the OP has no chance at getting merit at MSU. Check it. I applied as an instate, low-income minority (a black male, the minoritiest minority excluding Native Americans) with better stats than the OP and got NOTHING. MSU won't give you money if you have anything less than a 30 on the ACT.

The point of this thread isn't to talk about scholarships. It's about my chances for admission. But thanks anyway to people who replied.

Don't feel bad -- you'll get in. You just won't be getting much money. Just keeping it real.

Alchemy, you are in-state at MSU, and because of that, you don't have access to big OOS reductions that OOS students get. Outside of the Michigan Merit Award, there is no scholarship available for in-state students unless you are in the scholarship competition, get it through the individual school, or can get grant money through some Michigan grant that I can't think of right now. However, because the OP is an out-of-state resident, they have scholarships available to them that in-state students don't. Look at the MSU website for more information, this was the highest amount that the student qualified for.
