Applying to: Northeastern , NYU, Columbia, Boston University.
I feel like my reach is Columbia(reach for all apps), and NYU, NEU, and BU are all high matches?
Obviously I have auto admit to UT, so it is just about my major/Business Honors which is really competitive.

I’m applying to: UT Austin, Columbia, NYU Stern, Northeastern, BU. Looking into other schools too, so if you have a school you think I should look into hit me up. Thanks.

You have a great shot to get into McCombs, I’d honestly be shocked if you didn’t get in, Business Honors you have a good chance, but I wouldn’t bank on it because it’s unpredictable

Honestly think BU is more of a match then high match I think you have a good shot there. Northeastern too I think you’ll get in NYU is harder because stern is so competitive but you’re definitely competitive. As for Columbia you’re competitive which is all anyone can say. Congrats on all your hard work so far in high school! You’ll have some great options. Best of luck!

bump. Any recommendations to other schools to apply to ? @hssenior27 @pschnee

Michigan, Indiana (with your stats you get auto-admit for the business school instead of applying after your freshman year), Wharton (why not), UCLA, UNC Chapel Hill. Just naming some good business schools, your stats are as good as anyones so you have as much of a chance as the general applicant pool. My only suggestion would be maybe try to do more business ECs, like DECA, programs/clubs at your school, etc. It’s not like a requirement since you have great ECs anyway, but it would help.

Warning that “cliche story about being gay in the South” does not sound like a promising topic.

I pretty much agree with everything that’s been said above.

@pschnee Indiana is lower ranked than UT Austin for Business - Finance. Mich is ranked above but only marginally, and 2 ranks does not compensate for 30,000$.

Don’t base everything off of rankings. I was just giving suggestions, UT is my top choice so I know that it’s better than IU. But, IU would give you a lot of money, idk about Michigan though

Mccombs is unbelievable so even if you end up there thats not a problem. I think your definitely in at Northeastern and BU, but Stern is somewhat unpredictable as its getting more and more selective every year (11-12% admitted this year). Columbia is a large reach in my opinion.

As for other schools I think you should apply to/ I was thinking of applying to:

Carnegie Mellon University - Tepper
University of Michigan Ross
USC Marshall
Emory
UVA
Northwestern
Notre Dame
UCLA
Cornell
Stern

Your chances of getting into a handful of these schools are very high considering your scores and GPA. Maybe try to get an internship over the summer. Having an internship to put on your resume, and being able to talk about it in your essays is key.

Good Luck!

Hey @SternBusiness , do you think I should consider Northeastern?

@merelyaboveavg Maybe for a safety. I think you should focus your efforts on some better business schools, not that Northeastern’s ins’t good, but it also isn’t close to top tier.

Never consider Northeastern a safety.

Columbia does NOT have an undergrad business program.

@TomSrOfBoston Was never considering it as a Safety, honestly thought it was a low reach. Also need to have significant merit aid to go there! I do like the prospect of the co-op but the lower ranked program is hard to justify leaving Austin when I have a top 10 business and top 6th ranked finance program in my backyard.

@TomSrOfBoston Nobody said that Columbia has an undergrad business program.

For a lot of people Northeastern is considered a safety. Many kids from my school got in this year and they did not have anywhere near his stats, therefore in my opinion, his chances of getting in are very high.

@SternBusiness OP said he was applying to Columbia business school

Bumping this thread. Please share any other programs anyone thinks would fit my stats and be reasonable.
