<p>ECs include working at a CPAs office doing accounting and forensic accounting. I have become a valuable asset to his business (Im making him alot of money) and he lends me out to high profile lawyers to do work. I have been doing this for about 6 months and will continue until i leave for college.
I will very likely start working directly for Marc Ostrofsky (Networking/word got around about my adeptness, and he wanted to hire someone to help him managing websites and the like. Look him up on Wikipedia if you dont know who he is. He's partners with Ross Perot) Im meeting with him next week. If i start working for him he will likely write me a letter of recommendation for college!! Im so excited about that!
Also I have been playing guitar for 10 years and have played many concerts and taught at a few summer camps
Been on numerous mission trips (habitat for humanity and hurricane Ike relief) and have done tons of community service with the boy scouts
Going to Texas A&M and UT Austin summer programs this summer
Boy Scout (Life Scout)
Worked in a warehouse last summer full time </p>
<p>Pomona - low match
Harvey Mudd - match
Claremont Mckenna - match
USC - low match
UC Berkeley - reach (because out of state)
UCLA - reach (because out of state)
Caltech - reach</p>
<p>i would say ur in everywhere except:
UCLA: 80% chance
UCB + Caltech are harder b/c, as you know, IB is more liberal arts, not necessarily a bad thing. but they are MUCH more sciecne focus, so make sure that is what u want b4 applying.</p>
<p>USC- Match! I used to be very interested in going there so I know a bit about it… though once I came to grips with my 3.2 not being high enough to get in, I stopped.
The Two UCs - Reaches (out of state… though I’d say UCLA is a definitely just a low reach. I’m only roughly knowledgeable on UCs so take my impressions with low regard.)
Caltech - Sorry, but I’d have to say high reach.</p>
<p>Your GPA is really low to be honest for Mudd. I think weve seen CC posters with much better test scores, and a similar UW GPA, get rejected. Note that, despite what the above might suggest, Mudd is considered more selective than Pomona by a bit, and a lot more than CMC. I dont think you will have any trouble getting into USC thought; UCLA OOS might be finicky.</p>
<p>Also, what exactly is it you plan on studying? Most people dont apply to both CMC and HMC.</p>
<p>Pomona - reach
Harvey Mudd - low reach
Claremont Mckenna - low reach
USC - high match
UC Berkeley - low to mid reach
UCLA - low reach
Caltech - high reach</p>
<p>GPA and SATI is decent. Employment is definitely impressive, if you do snag that position. You are making a proactive use of your summer, but I wish you would provide us with your SATII scores. </p>
<p>Okay, I believe you have a very good chance at everything besides UCB, UCLA and Cal Tech.
I think you UCLA is a medium reach. UCB and Cal Tech should be reaches. Good luck!</p>
<p>Yes it is true, your SAT I’'s seem a bit lower, but everyone always have something to improve on. Good news it you still HAVE time to improve it, not like for EC’s.</p>
<p>Your EC’s look low in quantity, BUT HIGH IN DEPTH. Which I think is gonna be your strongest weapon. </p>
<p>Another issue is your rank and GPA… Yea I know, IB sucks. I have friends who struggle in IB classes too. Your diploma will give u pecial edge, but your GPA and Rank may as well erase that edge.</p>
<p>Overall?
Pomona - high match
Harvey Mudd - match
Claremont Mckenna - match
USC - high match
UC Berkeley - low reach
UCLA - low reach
Caltech - high reach :'(</p>
<p>Ok cool thanks guys! MY SATs are good except for writing (670 ) but i have an 800 math and a 740 CR. Pomona is my first choice so i may apply ED there. Would that make a difference?</p>
<p>It’ll make a difference, but don’t think just bc you’re applying Ed it will erase the gpa. You have a shot though, I say go for. USC would be good for you as well, UCB and Caltech are reaches for anyone. Good luck, your ec’s make you a strong candidate.</p>
