I don’t know much about NYU or CMU, sorry. I am applying to both Rochester and Northwestern. I think Northwestern is going to be a bit of a reach. Can you try to get that Chem score and SAT I score up a bit? Also, though you have a good breadth of ECs, I think you’d be a lot more competitive if you focused more on two to three really strong activities that conveyed your talents and interests. Do you something you can get really passionate about! If you still have time, those would be my suggestions. And get into a big leadership role, if possible!

I recently visited Rochester, and I agree with Soclosebutsofar in that Rochester places a high value on demonstrated interest. It’s an awesome place; it’s somewhere I really want to go to for its outstanding research possibilites. Out of my class of 300, I was one of three students to attend their meeting when they came to visit. My college counselor told me that doing so (as well as visiting, keeping in touch with admission reps, etc.) was invaluable for my application there. I think you have really good chances there, though. Again, your SATs could always go up, but as long as you keep up the strong grades and maybe add some depth to one of your ECs, I’d put it as a high match, maybe match. Their middle 50%s are: CR - 600-700, M - 650-740, W - 610-700. ACT: 28-32. 36% admission rate.

@justwannaask unfortunately, i can’t raise my scores up anymore because it’s too late to take anymore tests lol, but regarding my ECs and leadership, should i not mention some of my ECs?

Yeah I’m in the same boat with raising scores…Oh well. And no, I definitely think you should include everything! I just meant that, IMO, I think colleges place a great value on depth than breadth. But that’s not to say that breadth isn’t good - you have a great line up of ECs, to be sure! I was just making that suggestion if you had more time. I think you’ll definitely have a great chance for Rochester.

@indiankidd yeah, NYU is my top school after CMU but my heart belongs to CMU lol. i don’t really know if i have a 3.7 GPA, i’m just estimating it to be 3.7 because a 6/7 in IB is like an A- or A, but hopefully it’s good enough for CMU :D

CMU-Match
NYU-Match/low match
Rochester-low match/safety
Northwestern- reach

These are all great schools, and I think you have a fantastic chance at getting into the first three. NU will definitely be the toughest to get into, but you certainly have a chance of getting in. Good luck!

I think a great match for all those schools besides Northwestern might be a high reach! The other schools your resume is matched with what they look for!
