<p>Hello Columbia COMMUNITY!! Sent my app. already but need some opinions, thanks!!</p>

<p>Hey everyone. Sent my Columbia ED application a couple days ago, pretty anxious of my chances. Will chance back if you leave a link :]</p>

-Just listed my top 5 math team awards (4 from nationals, 1 from state)</p>

<p>-Letters of rec's are decent. had an english teacher who liked me a lot but probably pretty generic letter. math teacher wrote me an 850 word rec. it had good stuff explaining my role in math team as president but the grammar is pretty bad and had a like 12 sentence paragraph ahah. should be pretty good though.</p>

<p>-Personal Essay kinda sucked. got mostly positive responses by the end, but i felt it was weak. 460 word essay.</p>

<p>-Very good interview. Went about an hour and had good convo. She e-mailed me later saying it went very well.</p>

  1. 690 CR score
  2. 2 typos in application
  3. semi-weak essay
  4. only math awards</p>

<p>thanks man. i dont know… columbia only requires one essay (personal statement) and requires it to be under 500 words… so mine was like 470. not long enuf to make it super outstanding imo.</p>

<p>What was the topic of your essay?
I think you have a good chance. I’d say 60%, though I’m in the same boat as you so not greatly qualified to guess. Very strong GPA and test scores (I don’t think that 690 is gonna hurt you too much). I think it’s good you have an easily apparent strength and passion in math. I’m kinda all over the place which seems like it might be a detriment.</p>
