I’ll also add that in recent years that there have been kids at my school with similar range GPA and lower ACT that got into Cornell.

Cornell - Reach
Northwestern - Reach
UNC OOS - Low reach/high match
Northeastern - High match/match
Syracuse - Match/Low match

I don’t think you can assume the same treatment as others from your school have received regarding Cornell admissions. The GPA is low for Cornell and Northwestern, as well as UNC and Northeastern.

But your ACT score is very strong. I think that helps your chances at some of the more score-conscious schools: I think it might give you a boost at Northeastern and would potentially help you at schools like Vanderbilt and Washington U in St. Louis, if you like them enough to apply.

I’m thinking about Vanderbilt, they do offer a lot for people interested in sports journalism. WashU really doesn’t have the curriculum I’m looking for, but thanks.

I disagree with the previous poster who said Syracuse is a match / low match while that may be true for general admissions Newhouse is one of the best schools for journalism and as such is tougher to get into than the school in general.
