Applied DUS with the summer option
Play 3 sports and involved in Mini Thon at high school
Also if anyone could give me any info about the summer session that would be great
My daughter did the LEAP summer program this past summer and LOVED it. She was admitted DUS summer 2015 with a 3.45 and a 28 ACT. It enabled her to meet friends and get used to the campus when there were fewer students on campus. She loved being in State College during the summer because it’s very pretty and there were lots of things going on (Arts Fest, Fourth Fest etc…). She felt like she belonged before fall semester even began.
When you do the summer LEAP program you live in the dorms with other LEAP students and you take 6 credits. Everyone in the same “Pride” takes the same classes. So for example, my daughter was in the bio behavioral health pride. So everyone in that pride (about 30 students) took the same two classes at the same time. So they got to know each other. LEAP students generally live in South or Pollock for the summer. Then they move for fall semester to their fall semester housing.
I think you will get in for summer - I don’t know about fall simply because your SAT is under the middle 50% - but it’s still possible. Good luck!
Thanks @jlhpsu… also can you give me a guess for when I’ll receive a decision?
If I knew that I could make a lot of money No - Penn State does not complete applications in order so it’s really anyone’s guess when you will hear. My D applied the first day it was open last year and she did not hear until January 26th. It was torture. Some high stat kids are hearing now - but for the most part, I wouldn’t expect to hear until January and then if you hear earlier you can be surprised! Either way, you will know by January 31st.
I followed @jlhpsu’s wait last year. It was brutal for her. This year it seems to be moving a bit…a bit quicker. Some have speculated that they hired a new admissions director and that may have helped.
