Demographics- Out of State, upper-middle class, Asian Male from a relatively prestigious, public high school. Don’t need financial aid. Father has a doctorate and mother went to nursing school.

UW GPA- 3.7 (grades weren’t too great freshman year but a clear upwards trend with the majority of classes being AP math and science classes)

Part of a city-wide volunteering organization and chairman of one project
Annual short term mission trip to a school in rural China for the past 5 years. (Mainly teaching English but also working at the clinic as part of our medical team)

Extra - Grandpa was a visiting scholar decades ago as part of his medical training.

4 rec letters-
Counselor - seems to like me well enough but idk about her letter. Likely to be very generic or at least “good enough.”
Junior year calculus and english teachers - Both like me alot and I’m fairly certain that they’re both very good letters.
GLOWING rec letter from the founder and CEO of the organization that runs the school in china I volunteer at over the summer.

I think my essays are pretty good too - talks about how I grew from a shy and timid middle schooler into a competent public speaker and leader.

I think you have a good chance, although excellent stats and extracurriculars is never enough to guarantee acceptance just because Umich is a top institution.
