Chance me for finance schools?

Wharton (why not :P), NYU Stern, Cornell Dyson, Boston College Carroll, William and Mary Business, Georgetown McDonough, U Michigan Ross, Notre Dame Mendoza, UVA McIntire.

Mostly focused on Wharton, NYU, UVA, maybe Georgetown.

Objective:
ACT: 35
SAT II: Literature 760, Math IIC 760
AP: 5 US History, 5 US Government (our school doesn’t allow us to take AP’s before junior year and this was the max I could take)
Senior Year: AP Lit, AP Art History, AP World History, AP Bio, AP AB Calc
GPA unweighted: 3.75-ish?
Rank: n/a because I changed schools

Subjective:
EC’s: President of Future Business Leaders of America, President of Student Cooperative (in English school), officer/etc. in a bunch of other clubs, and big independent research (submitted abstracts and/or full paper to colleges)

Volunteering: 150-200 hours at senior center

Supplements and Common App essay: They were all good and dramatic but nothing overly cathartic or sensational

Recs: Meh

Overall Strengths: International experience - lived in England for a year; very high test scores; some fair leadership in EC’s and good research

Overall Weaknesses: EC’s meh in general – nothing spectacular; bad grades (B’s) junior year (put in a note explaining that these grades were the result of me going to England for a year and conflicting curricula but idk if they’ll buy it)

Other:
Minority Status: White

School type: public

Income bracket: 150K+ but applying for financial aid (complicated)

I’ll chance back if you want…

good profile overall, your gpa will hurt you. also, for places like uva (i go there), in-state vs OOS is important

wharton- reach
NYU- low reach
UVA- if OOS- low reach, if in state- high match
Georgetown- low reach

Thanks. I actually just calculated my unweighted GPA and it’s a 3.63. :disappointed:

I had a 3.81 freshman, 3.9 sophomore, and 3.18 junior. I had no idea it was that low… (we do everything in terms of weighted and I never knew my unweighted). Perhaps my explanation of moving countries and different curricula would compensate? Freshman and sophomore were still very high…

Very good stats. The high test scores will help you out. It also seems that a lot of your ECs are targeted towards what you want to study (whether that helps or not depends on the school, I’d imagine). Overall I think your application is competitive to all these schools. Your GPA might hurt you but I think if you tell your story well through other aspects of the application you can make up for it.

wharton- reach for anyone
NYU- high match, low reach
UVA- low reach (out of state), match (in-state)
Georgetown- low reach
Notre Dame- low reach
