GaTech gives college credit for the SAT Chemistry, Literature and history subject exams if you get a good score:

Since @scubadive’s child did NOT get into GaTech according to other posts, maybe that was the reason, he/she skipped the SAT Subject exams and many strong candidates today take them, from OOS for certain. The reason is, MIT requires these exams and many applicants to MIT also apply to GaTech. They often get rejected at MIT but get into GaTech. . Absolutely take the at least two SAT subject exams for the best shot at getting into GaTech. Its not easy to get in, anymore.
