I’m not sure about GW, but you need to aim for at least (my estimate) a 1500+ on the SAT or 34 on the ACT to have a good shot at Brown and USC. However the fact that you are an URM (underrepresented minority) can compensate for that. Your ECs are good though.
bump
Despite being a black/hispanic URM, I don’t think that can compensate for a 25 ACT and a 3.7 W gpa at Brown. What is your UW gpa btw, any calculator for UW gpa will suffice. You do have strong ECs like andro said, and that summer program should account for something
@mellamousted i have an UW 3.5. do you think if i get my SAT up to 1350+ and a 700+ on the literature subject test and 690~ on the math test i have a good shot?
Unfortunately, your GPA may be too low for Brown unless you get your SAT to 1500+ or your ACT to 34+. On Math level II tests, for Brown/USC, you’ll need around a 750.
I hate to say but, even though you are URM, your ACT/SAT will not do much. You almost have to get a 1600 maybe a little lower because of URM, but you have to get a really reallly high score. You could always apply for a UC. I think UCLA and Berkeley are Reach but anything else you have a decent shot if you raise your SAT to 1400
The issue with gpa is which classes brought it down. What’s the possible major, any other activities related to that, and what does the feeding club actually do? AP scores?
700 and 690 will be comparatively low, especially that M, if you’re thinking stem. At GW, the mid 50% SAT is 1310-1460. Usual advice to to be at or above the top of that range. If you look at these schools’ web sites, you’ll get an idea.
GW went test optional for many students, saw a jump in the number of apps. Mid 50% ACT is now 30-33. Lots of reasons you should be looking at what the colleges show. You need to match yourself.
@mellamousted i’m applying to UCLA, UCSD, UCR, UCSB, UCR, UCI and Cal. If i get it to 1400 what are my shot at these UC’s? Plus the subject tests i’m taking?
Go to each college’s web sites and see the scores. Eg, Ucla’s mid 50% is 640-770M. 100,000+ will apply and you need to be as strong as possible- and informed what that is, in all respects.
