I am an international applicant trying to secure admittance to these top us colleges and I would be grateful if you would be able to spare a minute giving me your thoughts and opinions
I am an asian pacific by race and I am fully sponsored by the federal government for my undergraduate degree. I am currently doing my A-levels due to finish by june.
SAT I : 1370 (630 Reading, 740 Maths, 19 Writing), I was too preoccupied with my A levels exams, causing me to have less time to study for the SAT exams.
GPA : 3.91
AS level grades : AAA
A levels predicted grades : AAA*
IELTS Band : Band 8
I didnt do the SAT Subject Tests as I can prove my proficiency in maths and science subjects with my straight A’s in my A levels exams.

I know im a bit ambitious to apply for these top colleges but it has been my dream to study in the USA and achieve the American Dream.I am planning on majoring Chemical Engineering. Thank you for your time and have a nice day!
-There are only so many seats at each college.
-The colleges you’ve selected are bombarded with applications from, not only US students, but from hundreds of thousands of applicants from around the world.
-US colleges were developed to educate domestic students first
-Students with perfect and near perfect scores are often rejected at the ivies and top schools. Many of these schools have to reject international candidates because there is no space for them (after selection of athletes, legacies, celebrities, large donors, URMs, musicians, artists).
-Your ECs, although good, are competitions and self serving.
-Your dream is to have the American dream, which means your dream is to immigrate, a big no-no for US immigration.
-You picked the most popular schools without considering how different they all are; each school has a personality.
-Those public schools on your list, are funded by state taxpayers, which means they are obligated to admit their state residents first and foremost.
-Your major is chemical engineering. Are there lots of jobs in your country for chemical engineers?
Positions in this field, in the US, are limited, and can be tied to US government grants which may require US citizenship.
You need safeties. Try looking at schools in the South and Midwest.
Forgot to mention that your chances are better because you are self-funded and the Malaysia thing may give you an edge.
You never know what the adcoms are going to do, so asking for chances isn’t a fail-safe. It’s just my opinion. Apply because you never know.
For Fall 2018 admission? Aren’t UCB, UCLA, UW application all closed already? You have 8 days to complete the rest of your applications (Harvard, Penn, Michigan.)
Which program did you apply to UW? You have a great chance for general admission, but may not be enough if you apply to some impacted majors. Good thing about UW though, if you are not admitted by the department, they will still admit you as a “pre-major” student. So I think you have pretty good chance.
spend eight days working on harvard’s app if you really want to go there. penn is due 01/05, so you have some time. mich is due 02/01, so prioritize that one last for now.
