Just of note: I am taking part in a virtual stock exchange game with 100s of students around Hong Kong and am currently in the top 3. Even if I come in the top 20 I will win a award for representing my school, and if I come in the top 5 I will win an individual award. Furthermore, I will be doing a similar kind of competition, but in school only, and will most probably win that. If I do achieve well in these two competitions, how will my chances at business schools be affected, particularly Wharton?

Wow your credentials are truly amazing. I honestly don’t think you’d have a problem at any school in the country with scores, extracurriculars, and awards like that. I almost guarantee you’ll get in ED to Wharton.

Please chance back

Your SAT scores are within the range, the courses you’re taking are the most rigorous, and you have international recognitions and extracurricular pursuits that relate closely to your area of interest… I think you’ll have a good chance at most of these schools. The problem is that I’m not familiar with any of the awards you’ve listed and so cannot gauge exactly how amazing they are or how much they’ll help you (but they sound impressive =D).

Definitely mention it on your college app, but focus more on the high school achievements in general.

Haha, you should definitely tell the admission officer the very same right in the beginnig of your essay: “Attention, my essays = ‘excellent’!” :p. (You know, just in case they miss it.)

Haha, thanks a lot Calico.

Wow. I would say you’re definitely academically for the top schools in th US. Your ec’s look great, and that’s a ton of awards. Don’t know too much about business schools, but I’m sure they would be very happy to have you.

You should get accepted to all/most of the places you’re applying to. Your creds are great.

Great news! In the business competition I have made a profit of 15% in my stocks in just 3 days, not to mention that the stock market has actually lost over 6% in the last 3 days. I seem on track to win the virtual stock market competition. Hopefully that helps with my business school applications! :D

This says it all…

What do you mean kaekae?

Lol…I’d say you have a decent chance, you should apply, but of course keep in mind that it’s tough for internationals.

Thanks. I said I didn’t have any hooks because I am not a legacy, URM, recruited athlete etc. Maybe the fact that I run a business or the fact that I have built miniature particle accelerators/cloud chambers could be a hook(s)?

You look like a lock for most of your schools besides Wharton, MIT Sloan, and maybe Dartmouth and Brown. Good Luck.

Those two things will definitely help, but I don’t know that you can consider them “hooks.”
With my first post I was making a joke by hyperbolizing the college admissions process and saying that you’ll only get in if you have a hook and/or are a URM…

Oh ok. I thought you were referring to something specific to MIT.

Argh. Well I guess I have to bump! :S

no hope. give up now.

Why thank you so much for your chance yoshibrock.

you’re welcome, no problem.

Anyone else please?
