So, I’m going to be negative Ned and focus on the weak components of your application (being brutally honest, please don’t be offended) so, for starters, your lack of special classes-no ap, honours, or gifted courses taken. I assume you took academic courses, which leads me to another negative point; your grades. A 92.5% is not an exceptional average. The majority of applicants to mcgill university had an average of 90-94%…and the ivied are in a different league than mcgill, in terms of admissions and selectivity. Then, there is the issue of your race, you’re Asian; and it seems that you have done little to deviate from the stereotype…piano, math, science, band, and tennis…to the adcoms, you’re nothing new, and there i fail to get a sneeze of who you are, based on your ecs and leadership roles. You seem like a stereotypical Asian who has done nothing to break the mold. Furthermore, being Asian ( according to a study done at princeton u) drops your ALREADY mediocre (for the affornentioned schools) sat by 160 points. Ouch. And finally, your class rank-11th, again, not stellar. so, your ethnicity, your unoriginal, lackluster ecs, your failure to be unique, your average (for the ivies) sat score, your ALRIGHT class rank, your mediocre average (I’m Canadian, and I know that a 92.5 with no advanced courses is nothing special, even in the gifted program, you should have a 95+ average. Those components make Columbia a HUGE reach for you, Penn a considerable reach, cornell a reach, duke, Michigan, and NW low reaches. Closing comments: whoever said an ivy was a match is naive, the ivies are a reach for everyone. Also, you could have transferred to local gifted program,'or taken online ap courses. Btw, living in Canada for three years is nothing special and by no means a “hook”! Best of luck, and if thee are errors in this, please forgive me, for I am typing on my iPod. (oh and if you are applying for fa, it will have nevtive impact on your admissions at most of these schools. So in short, very low chance at the ivies, good chance at the others)
