@kiki1ki1 “you should be a shoe in but gender will play a big role. girls get in more easily”

You know a lot more about Lehigh than I do, but with Lehigh getting down to a 25% acceptance rate last year, I am not sure it is a shoe in, even if this applicant is female, unless this applicant is a recruited athlete. In looking at Naviance for our school, this weighted gpa and test scores are within the admitted range, but low in the range and many students with similar scores were not admitted. I would especially note that the 28 ACT score is currently below the 25th percentile and improving is a couple of points would significantly boost your chances. My advice would be to look at Naviance for your high school and see what combinations of gpa and ACT that Lehigh is likely to take.

@collegestress28 I would recommend that you work hard to achieve a strong gpa this semester and boost your overall gpa, retake and improve your ACT score, visit Lehigh and show strong interest, and apply ED. If you really want to attend Lehigh, those steps will give you a much better chance of admission.

Lehigh is a small enough of a school that the admissions office looks beyond grades and scores. I think your area of interest make make a difference. Is it a super competitive area of study like mechanical engineering or accounting? And your financial need will also factor in - of course a private school likes a certain percent of kids that do not need any or little financial aid. Also, geographic diversity can factor in here too - there are only so many kids Lehigh is going to take from PA, NY and NJ. The farther you live from Lehigh the more geographic diversity will come into play and help you. They do like having every state represented. So if you are the only applicant from Wyoming you will have a stronger chance than the 300th kid from PA that is applying.

With a small school with only a 1,000 applicants accepted each year the admission office’s decision goes much farther than just your GPA and text scores.

That is why I think kiki1ki1’s advice to just try is wise. No one can anticipate the admission office’s decisions.

@kikkydee “I think kiki1ki1’s advice to just try is wise.”

I agree that “trying” is good advice, but I didn’t see that advice. From kiki1ki1, I see “you should be a shoe” which I don’t think is the case unless I am missing something.

@kikkydee “with only a 1,000 applicants accepted each year”

I read that there were about 13,400 applicants and 25.5% were accepted, so by my calculation they must have accepted about 3,400 students. Lehigh’s yield must be somewhere close to 37%.

This link from kikky shows the statistics for the class entering LAST fall, in September 2015. I’m really hoping they post the updated numbers for this page for the 2016 freshmen.

You could go back the last 10 years and average how much these numbers have varied - in total and from year to year. My GUESS is they haven’t changed much.

This link is my source and it is more up to date. http://thebrownandwhite.com/2016/04/27/lehigh-ranking-little-effect/

“With 13,408 students applying, the acceptance rate also fell below the previous year. Only 25.5 percent of students were accepted this year, compared to 30.4 in 2015.”

It is actually fairly significant that the acceptance rate has dropped from 35% to 25.5% in only two years.

thank you all so much for the responses!!
