Chance me for McCombs (1st choice) or Economics (2nd)

I’m a senior now, 1% out of the auto-admit range. I have 1360 (Math and Reading) on SAT, but really good ECs. I’m Editor-in-Chief of my newspaper, President of National Honor Society (elected two yrs in a row), officer of another National honor society, pres of another club and had a business internship as well as a job right now. What do you guys think of my chances? I’m in all AP’s, have showed tremendous improvement since 9th grade. I have over 200 hours of volunteering and other stuff as well on my resume. This is just the most significant activities that I’ve done.

Btw I’m from Houston, if that makes any difference. Thanks.

You should get in to Econ. However McCombs most likely isn’t going to happen.

@tennisgirl9019 Did you get in Mccombs?. I just got in. I have very similar profile. I am also a varisty tennis - team that went to state finals in 2015.

No, I still haven’t heard back yet :frowning:

I think you have a decent shot. I was top 11% and I got in last week. Although keep in mind I go to a High School well known for its competition and had a slightly higher SAT composite of 1490 with a 770 Math ( Also a 35 Math ACT score ). McComb weighs the math score HEAVILY. If your Math score is good and you go to a good Houston school ( like maybe the Woodlands ) , I think you’ll be fine.

I go to a decently competitive high school, I know it’s well known to UT. I got a 740 in Math and 620 in Reading. I was hoping that my EC’s and leadership would make up for the slightly lower class rank. Thanks for your input and congrats! I’m just getting so anxious now, because I’ve heard so many people who aren’t nonauto get admitted and I’ve been waiting since October :confused:

I just heard back! Got accepted!

Congrats!. Did you get into Mccombs or Econ

Got into McCombs!

Great.

@tennisgirl9019 Congratulations…never a doubt!!

@TXDad56 Thank you so much!!!

@tennisgirl9019 Interesting as my DS is about to apply to either Econ 1st or McCombs 1st choice. Still has not decided. He has 35M but 26E. Just outside of top 10%. Lots of APs,ECs, but no strong leadership, top instate school. Seems like similar story as yall but leadership could be a problem. Any words of advice having been through it?

McCombs (Business) is much harder to get into than Liberal Arts (Economics). I believe you have the option to have a first and a second choice. My LHS actually put ECO first and BUS second, not realizing just how much harder McCombs would have been to get in to. He got ECO. If you did BUS first and ECO second, that might be smarter.
