Northeastern is my top choice school but I will not qualify for need based aid and I would need a merit based scholarship to attend. Tulane is another interest I know is generous with merit money.
White female from California
GPA UW 3.7
W 4
ACT (took once) 34
7 AP classes through high school
Good ECs (teen court thru a juvenile delinquent diversion program in city hall, blogger and went to American Library Association and Comic Con with press pass, allstar cheerleader and co-captian of high school squad senior year, shadowed physicians in the Emergency Room, etc.)
Is there any chance I would qualify? I know it’s top 10% of applicants - could I be within that? I do know that answers are not accurate but any direciton would be appreciated.
@kkpita1 I can only provide you with an estimate for merit for Tulane because I don’t know much about northeastern. Your stats would qualify for merit at Tulane but how much you would get or whether you even get accepted will depend on how good was your “Why Tulane” and common application essays, your teacher recommendations and how much demonstrated interest you have shown through either visiting the school or attending a local admissons meet and greet at your high school or local geographic area or reaching out to the admissons rep for your area.Your ACT is worthy of top merit $32,000 but your unweighted gpa is probably worth $23,000. I think you would qualify for $27,000 or possibly even $30,000 assuming stellar essays and recommendations and strong demonstrated interest.
thank you! This is so very appreciated. I think my “why tulane” was pretty weak in hindsight (175 words, summary without much enthusiasm), but my common app essay should be up to par and my recommendations should be incredible. Thank you!
I hope by now you received your letter. My son received his on December 18th. The website was updated approximately a week later. It was in a full size (9 x 12) envelope.
