Sorry, I posted this on another thread but I think it suits more putting it in the Canadian thread. Just would like some insights and tips. Thanks!

I am a Canadian student applying for NYU Stern ED. I read up on the NYU website that they now changed their flexibility on standardized exams.
I am taking the IB Diploma Program (full IB) at my high school, and according to the NYU standardized exam website, it stated that:

NYU has one of the most flexible testing policies of any college or university.

To be eligible for admission, applicants to NYU's New York and Abu Dhabi campuses are expected to submit results from one of the following testing options:

The SAT Reasoning Test; or
The ACT (with Writing Test); or
Three SAT Subject Test scores; or
Three AP exam scores; or
Three IB higher level exam scores; or
Students may instead elect to submit results from a nationally accredited exam that is considered locally to signify the completion of secondary education and is administered independently of the student's school.
Examples include but are not limited to:

International Baccalaureate Diploma; or
GCE Advanced Level Examinations (AS-level and GCSE/O-level examination results should also be submitted if available); or
European Abitur, Baccalaur

Wow, I’m full ib too! My SATs arn’t at all glamorous and it would be SO helpful if ib scores replaced them! I haven’t seen this before though, do you mind putting up the link you got this info from? Thank you!

I really really hope it’s true… I put so much more effort into the ib exams than the SATs… >//<… oh yeah, I’m ED NYU Stern as well! I hope we both get in ^^

Yes! except my teachers tell me I’m not allowed to know my predicted grades… @____________@; so I’m basically kept in the dark about my chances… should I send in my SAT of 2170? It seems to be on the lower side for kids applying from Canada…

Lolol I did some begging and I was told I got 6’s for all my predicted grades… =\ plus the two 7’s from last May… plus 2 for TOK… brings me to about 40/45 =C I think I’m going to send both my predicted grades and SATs in… they can do what they will with them. And 2170 doesn’t seem high for stern at all considering the mid 50% range is 2100 to 2200 and I’m Canadian and asian… =< the life we live…

I actually don’t think so… there’s TONS of people with higher grades than me… but of course they’re all shooting for the Iveys… I just hope none of them realize what an awesome school Stern is and compete with me… =~= good luck by the way`~ I’m still desperately trying to write my essays… =C

Good lord, why are you going to be wasting $200,000 to go to NYU? This makes no sense at all. Trust me, I know Stern inside out and now teach at a top Canadian school. Absolutely waste of money.

You’ll probably get in. However, I’m not sure if paying the full ticket price for Stern UG as an international student is wise. But hey, if you have the money, go for it.
