Hi all! I am a rising senior at a very competitive top 5 public school in Massachusetts. I’m planning on applying to the college of Arts and Science.
Stats: 3.33 UW GPA, 3.95 W GPA, 1240 SAT (Taking it again this month). I take a mix of honors and regular classes. Some honors classes include honors bio, APUSH, honors global, honor english. Senior year schedule: AP US Gov, AP Psych, Honors Film Studies, Honors global marine biology, calculus, and french5.
EC: Class president (2018), Organizer for annual childhood cancer awareness day at Fenway Park. Basically I lead Dana Farber patients on tours and supervises them in the Red Sox dugout. I also go on the field and present the cancer awareness day award to someone in the red sox management who has shown courage and commitment to the fight against cancer. I was on the baseball team and am on the Varsity golf team. I have won the award of excellence (integrity, ethics, leadership) for baseball and I have also won the award of excellence for the golf team. I have also won a sportsmanship award for the basketball team. I also play on the NEPGA Jr. tour which is a golf league and I hold a job at the local golf course (around 25-30 hours a week). Because golf season ends in the fall, in the winter I am the head coach of both a 4th grade basketball team and a 6th grade basketball team. I also a member of my schools aspirations in medicine club and I am the secretary of the strategic investments club. I also did a pre medical school program over the summer at Harvard.
Other info: I feel like my recs are going to be good (one of them is coming from my honors history teacher who I had freshman and junior year and she has really seen me grow as a person and a student). I’m going to work really hard on my essay (I am actually going to work on it right after this).
Thank you for reading and feel free to chance me and or recommend other schools for me!
Thank you!
You need to get your stats well up to have a good chance. Class of 2022 had average 3.7GPA (uw) and the middle 50 on SAT was 1350-1530 - so you are well below the 25th percentile. Class of 2023 stats are not out yet but with more competitive admissions, the stats are likely to be at least as good and probably better (median admitted SAT was 1480, enrolled will be a bit lower than that but admitted is what you need to aim for). Your ECs are good, but you need the stats.
