Chance me for privates and public? Low GPA, great extra curriculars!

I plan on majoring in communications. </p>

<p>My GPA:
3.118 unweighted (cumulative)
3.2 weighted cumulative
2.95 unweighted A-G courses
3.1 weighted A-G</p>

<p>SAT, 1730 one time, 1740 the next. Superscore= 1770, 10 on essay
ACT=26 (without writing) </p>

<p>Extra Curriculars:
-Talk show host for a local radio station (paid)
-Debate 4 years
-Teaching debate for 3 years (paid)
-Camp counselor- 2 weeks (unpaid)
-Club officer and script writer for 4 produced shows
-Internship at a local marketing firm (summer 2011-paid)
-TA'd debate workshop at Santa Clara University (summer 2012 unpaid)
-DECA for 3 years, at regional and state levels</p>

<p>I've also taken theater classes for 3 years, being in advanced theater for 2. </p>

<p>I know my grades are low, but I do believe my extra curriculars will help me stand out. My essays are quite satisfactory. What are my chances? I REALLY want to go to SCU or LMU because their communications department are excellent. </p>

<p>I think you’re okay for Cal state but when it comes to certain privates (such as Loyola) they expect at least 3.0 gpa but I say that you go check with the counslor on the different gpa</p>

I heard somewhere that applying early with lower stats may decrease your chances. Can anyone shed some light on it?</p>

<p>I am applying to LMU and Chapman as well. But I’m international though.
I would say LMU and Santa Clara : Reach
Drexel and Chapman : Match
Most of your RDs are safety except Northeastern is a high reach. In my opinion, EA is a bit risky. You could consider retaking SAT in December to really improve your chances to SCU and LMU if you are really into those colleges.</p>

You could also try some of the UCs.</p>
