So what do you guys think? What are my chances at:

Yale (I love this school, my #1 choice for sure. I love Yale like some people love their boyfriends..their pets..their bubble gum balls..etc etc
Harvard
Stanford
UPenn (Wharton)
Columbia
Northwestern
UC Berkeley
University of Chicago
USC (with a full scholarship?)
Princeton
Georgetown (I don't know why I like this school...I just do :))
Duke
And safeties, dun dun dun...University of Utah :P

Lol, homecoming pageant.

Anyways, I give you a 17.3% chance of being admitted by Yale SCEA.
Are we really suppose to list everything in that much detail? I thought we just listed the most important ones.

I think you have a good chance for all those schools. I’d love to have your SAT score and your ECs are amazing. However, make-sure not to sound too academic when writing your essays. Also, I hate to say it, but since you are Chinese, you will need to distinguish yourself from other top Asian applicants. Try to focus on what makes you unique. (Family experience, unique EC, etc.) Don’t write about academic competitions. That will be an application killer. Remember, thousands of students apply to HYPS with amazing stats just like you and thousands get denied.
Hope that helped.
Good luck!

Yes, you have strong activities, but nothing really stands out to make you a shoe in and your chineseness is not gonna help either(i’m on the same boat… -_-) But, if you write good essays, i see no reason why yale wouldn’t take you.

WOW!! You’re stats are definitely enough with all those 750+ and you have a lot of activities. But you should try to cut them down because it looks like a laundry list. But you totally have a chance if you write outstanding essays.

You may be Chinese, but at least you don’t live in California. haha.

Anyway, you probably have a great chance at all the schools your applying to, especially with those insane extracurriculars. And you seem to have a great personality, so if you can convey that in your essay, I’m sure you’ll get into at least one of those reaches-for-everybody schools. :)

(Good job on Homecoming btw. lol)

crew? you’ll get into yale for sure ;)

i think the biggest differentiating factor for HYP admissions is your essay. Stress something that’s NOT ANYWHERE ELSE ON YOUR APPLICATION. That’s all the advice I can give.

Oh, and try to cut out all of the minor little awards in LD (i know they’re not minor, ppl just don’t appreciate how hard it is to get that far), but I think your nats qualifiers and state championship will be more than plenty (i.e., the major ones).

In regards to my grading scale, my school doesn’t do UW gpa, and they don’t hand out anything higher than a 4.0 on the transcript… so yeah.

I’m sorry to say this, but have you maybe considered community college?

Well I would think living in Utah is fairly unusual - being Chinese and living in Utah even more so. Anything there??

Yale for you is easily a high match. Your scores and ec’s are amazing.

[Chance back?](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/789787-chance-me-notre-dame-i-chance-back.html)

Almost max chances anywhere.
Are you a God???

@Zapz: actually, its my secret dream to go to community college. alas, the money just simply isn’t there :stuck_out_tongue:
@HonorsCentaur: hahaha noooo… but thanks for the compliment :)

To everyone who said I should cut down the debate awards- why do you guys think it would be better to leave it out? I know a lot of people do ECs just to write them on their apps, and I want to show that I’ve done debate because I love it and am actually heavily involved in it… thoughts are welcome
Thanks everyone!!! Leave a link if you want me to chance back  GL to all us 2014ers ;)

Very solid stats and amazing EC’s. I wish my application looked like yours. Unfortunately some part of getting into ivies is random chance because there are a million other applicants with your stats.

Chance me back please - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/791702-delaware-college-park-jhu-umbc.html</a></p>

Haha :stuck_out_tongue: I agree with that last phrase!

I think your dedication to debate is clear, and will definitely help you in the college application process. Your scores and GPA are also stellar, along with your other ECs. You listed a lot of debate accomplishments, and I think it’s fine (I agree with you in saying that it highlights your passion for LD debate) I’m willing to bet that you’ll be accepted to Yale, and possibly some of the other high match/low reach schools you listed. Good luck!

[Chance me~?](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/788509-does-usamts-medal-help.html</a>)

the only thing that might stop you is them looking at the app and saying “oh another one of these.”
otherwise, yeah your in with money everywhere. shocker.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/791744-chance-me-because-i-seriously-dont-know.html</a></p>

Wow. Very, very impressive stats! I am going to go as far to say as you’re going to get into Yale. I’m sure of it. Why? Because I think you would be a perfect fit there :] And I haven’t seen a stronger candidate.

:]

I’d say in everywhere pretty solid except for Stanford. They really do take a different approach in selecting students. Last year, I had a friend with a 30 ACT get in, and knew of two others who got in; one was an amazing writer and the other very involved in dance, while a 36-er on a full ride to Harvard got rejected. Luckily, Yale is your number one choice and I think you have a solid chance there. As someone else stated, make sure your essay rocks, because it will be vital to your acceptance.

Taking over the world will eventually bit you in the ass big time, just ask the Brits and Americans. Even if you can do it subtly, you will still end up responsible for all the global policing, eco-politics, ethnic grievance and hungry hungry babies everywhere. So good luck with that! YOU CAN HAVE IT!!!

Meanwhile, you’re 85% in at Yale… Change the world! Start with New Haven…

Well see, historical examples of taking over the world didn’t have the advantage of explosive technology growth that we do right now. So ya, there’ll be problems, but I say that I, the new dictator of the 21st century, have a better chance of solving them than past ambitious conquerors ;)

Lol, thanks to everyone who’s chanced!

First of all, completely agree with being ready to get out of high school.

Stats-wise, you are a prime candidate for any school. ECs seem good, well-rounded. The only thing that I can imagine keeping you from the school of your choice would be essays. Write great essays, and (by my estimate) you should be in at most of those. The HYPSMs are unpredictable, though…
You seem covered with those schools, good luck!
