Chance me for scholarship or aid?

<p>I love Scranton, but the money issue comes into play in my decision. Chance me for scholarships/aid? I know my family's financial state comes into play for the need based aid, I'm just interested in merit based.</p>

<p>Among others, these are the most... Impressive? Classes I've already completed:</p>

<p>AP psychology
Advanced/honors physics
Advanced/honors chemistry
Advanced/honors precalculus/calculus
...
Classes I am currently taking:
AP chemistry
AP biology
AP Literature and composition
Government
Economics
...
My school uses a 1-100 grading scale, and i have an overall average of about a 95, somewhere saw that this was equated to a 4.0 gpa but I'm not positive. This is UNWEIGHTED. Not sure of class ranking.</p>

National honor society for eleventh and twelfth grade
Foreign language honor society for tenth, eleventh, twelfth grades
Science honor society for tenth, eleventh, twelfth
Family and consumer sciences honor society for tenth and eleventh grades</p>

<p>SAT was about a 1950 with writing</p>

model united nations eighth through twelfth grade
Fbla seventh through tenth grade
Peer mediator ninth grade
Students against destructive decisions tenth through twelfth grade
Girl scout for seven years
Volleyball for two years
Soccer for one year</p>

<p>Volunteer work/hours:
Special needs childrens camp volunteer for a total of 450 hours exactly
Special needs children's recreational Saturday program for a total of 105 hours as of today
Special needs children's bowling league volunteer for a total of 68 hours as of today
After school program for children with autism for a total of 360 hours
Hospital volunteer for a total of 32 hours
Hospital volunteer for a total of 12 hours
Special needs cooking program for 18 hours
Special needs art therapy program for 6 hours
Cerebral palsy foundation festival of trees volunteer for four hours
Horseback riding lead volunteer for 32 hours
Horseback riding camp volunteer for 12 hours</p>

<p>You have a good chance for a scholarship. Your GPA is a 3.75 on a 4.0 scale. If your SAT Math & Reading was above a 1300 you will be in the category for the second tier merit scholarship. You must also be in the top 20% of your class. I believe $ range is between 10,000 - 20,000. The exact requirements are on the scholarship page on the website. My son has similiar stats with great extra curriculars, so we’re hoping the same thing.</p>

95/100 = 4.0 gpa.</p>

<p>My estimate for merit scholarship per year is…</p>

<p>4.0 with 1300 will get you at least 13-16k
if top 20% of class -add 1-2k
if 4.25 or 1350-add (1-2k for each) 1-4k
if PA resident (better if Lackawana Co) add- 1-2k
If class president or major leadership positions 1k</p>

<p>Had friend of son who had 4.25, 1370, all honors and AP’s.
Top 5% of class got 28k/yr offer.</p>

<p>In the end your looking at 15-25k and that is before FA. Scranton is generous and my son is very happy with his choice of school.
Full price tuition, room/board for 2011-12 is about 49,500. If cost of attendance is a big factor, the your net cost would be between
34-24k/yr. Good luck</p>
