I have a positive trend in GPA. Started from the bottom now we're here.

Applying as an Economics major, which for most schools is in the College of Arts and Sciences.

High school is highly respected and one of the top in the state. I believe its in the top 15 schools in the state but I could be making this up completely. Its way up there, though. Also, I'm from Michigan, so keep out-of-state enrollment in mind.

Other Information:
I'm gay. I'm not sure whether I should or shouldn't include this information in my app? I feel like it would make me stand out a little more and give me something to talk about.

One letter of rec from favorite teacher, another letter of rec from school GC. Nothing too special or exciting.

Colleges of consideration:
Miami University - Oxford
New York University
Purdue University
University of Rochester
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
Loyola University Chicago
Indiana University at Bloomington
Michigan State University
University of Maryland - College Park

I've been accepted at Grand Valley State University, so I've got a safety option already. I realize that most of these schools are reaches, I'm just curious as to which ones I could possibly maybe get accepted to? o3o

Thanks so much.

bump.

You don’t mention a budget, a need for financial aid or scholarships, which means most chances are pointless.
BTW, with these stats and quality singing you’d get good merit aid at St Olaf, Luther, or Concordia.

Miami University - Oxford - low match to safety*
New York University - reach
Purdue University - match
University of Rochester - match*
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign - low match to safety
Loyola University Chicago - safety*
Indiana University at Bloomington - safety
Michigan State University - safety*
University of Maryland - College Park - match

= likely to provide financial aid and/or merit

Thanks for the response. You’re right, I did forget to mention financial aid. I did check off that I need financial aid on my applications, so that makes it a little less likely that I’ll get accepted. That being said, I don’t anticipate any school being too much money (or if they were, I simply wouldn’t attend.) I didn’t realize just how many schools were matches for me. Again, thanks!

If those are your ACT sub scores your composite would be a 33, no?

I got a 26 on math when I got a 32 composite. The first time i took the act, i got a 30. I’m sending both scores because a lot of schools will take your highest sub score and some even superscore.

The fact you need financial aid totally changes the list because only one of the many matches and reaches is likely to be affordable (your in-state) plus URochester and Loyola Chicago. For scholarships at OOS schools, you’d need to apply to them within the next few weeks.

Miami University - Oxford - depends on budget but unless in-state, likely unaffordable (merit possible but not full ride/full tuition so suitability is heavily budget-dependent)
New York University - unaffordable
Purdue University - unaffordable unless in-state
University of Rochester - match*
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign - unaffordable unless in state (merit possible but not full ride/full tuition so suitability is heavily budget-dependent)
Loyola University Chicago - safety*
Indiana University at Bloomington - unaffordable unless in state (merit possible but not full ride/full tuition so suitability is heavily budget-dependent)
Michigan State University - unaffordable unless you qualify for merit
University of Maryland - College Park - unaffordable unless in state (merit possible but not full ride/full tuition so suitability is heavily budget-dependent)
