Chance me for top 5 colleges

SAT: 2290
PSAT: 227
ACT: N/A
SAT II: taking this Saturday, most likely Math II: 800, Chemistry: 780-800, Physics: 750-800
AP: 5 5s so far, should have 6 more 4-5s

GPA:
UW: 4.00 with 11 APs taken so far
Rank: We dont rank but should be top 0.5%
W: Like 4.5+, perhaps #1 in my class (we dont rank)

ECs:
Science Olympiad-President, with multiple state awards (4 years)
Freshman Mentoring Club-Board Member, we help freshman adjust to high school (2 years, but not allowed the first 2 years)
Newspaper-Chief Programmer on the webteam for a nationally ranked newspaper (3 years, not allwed freshman year)
Orchestra-Symphony Orchestra-one of the best orchestras in the nation, Vice President of Orchestra Club (4 years)
Math Club-made AIME 2 years, nothing good on AIME (4 years)
Key Club-over 75 hours
NHS-hopefully over 25 hours

Research-this summer, will serve as Group Leader for Siemens

Awards:
ACS winner-would have qualified for the Chemsitry Olympiad if I was a US Citizen
AIME 2 years
National Merit Semifinalist
Should be National AP Scholar unless something goes wrong

Hopeful Siemens Award in Research (Consider no award and Reg. Finalist Award)

Self-Analysis:
I have big leadership positions in a pretty large school, and I have some varied science/math awards

Schools:
MIT (early)
HYPS (if I do not get accepted early)
Any safety school

Your scores appear good, your ECs are strong…I think you have an excellent chance at one of your top choices. But MIT’s EA can be absolutely brutal. Also, I could probably be a little bit more accurate with my chancing if you gave a breakdown of your scores on the SAT1.

You look pretty good for MIT EA, especially with your ECs and your Math II SAT score. I would say 50-60%, which is insanely high for anyone, I realize, but you seem to be a great match to MIT’s ideal applicant (strong math/science background with varied interests including music and journalism).
Plus, if you are a URM in any way or you are a girl your chances are even strong. Unfortunately, if you are an ORM they do go down.

As for HYPS, your stats are a better fit to MIT than the Ivies, but you have excellent chances all around. I would say 30-40% at the Ivies (lumping Stanford in there too).

Also consider UCBerk if money isn’t an object, Caltech (if you can betray MIT by applying to their arch nemesis lol), and Northwestern.

If you’re planning on going into chem, you really can’t beat Berk (I drool over their chemistry department, but sadly wouldn’t be able to afford UCB tuition haha)

Only thing that sticks out is the ECs. They’re all pretty mundane, except for the research you’re going to do this summer. Try to either get a supp. LOR from whomever you’re researching with, use it in your essay, or somehow play it up, because it’s really you’re only supplemental selling point.

Aside from that you’ve got as good a chance as anyone (anyone being the thousands of ultra smart math people applying to those schools).

If you go to a high school with a lot of USAMO/USAPHO/UNSCO/USABO qualifiers then you may be out of luck since you are only an AIME qualifier.

^We dont even really offer anything else except math and chemsitry. Chemistry is messed up though; Like I said, I did not make it…but no one here is following the chemsitry olympiad rules…apparenlty we had 8 people from our school make it…we didnt follow the 2 person rule so that might hurt me? Can I still write down i made chem olympiad but was not US citizen?

As for math, there arent alot; theres one other person in my grade and hes really really good (he passed AIME multiple times now), but I am number 2 in my grade for sure. But then again, I am much worse, as I barely passed AMCs every year (but did do sorta well on AIME last year, just not passing), so I dont know what that really says.

We do have a ton of Siemens winners though, but I think that has more to do with the fact that we live in a richer community so we have more opprotunity to do research…

What ethnicity are you?

Wait, sorry guys: I forgot

SAT: 2290 (no major skewness, all 700+, I actually forgot exact scores but I know they were all 700+, and I believe they were atleast 50% on MIT’s scale)
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
School Type: Magnet, one of the largest in the state
Teacher recs: Havent thought of any specific teachers but 1 math and 1 english/social studies…maybe my chemistyr teacher but MIT doenst allow that (2 science/math)

bumperooooooo

MIT looks like a really good choice for you! Yale is a great school too, but it doesn’t really fit your interests. i think you have a great shot at all of the schools on your list though!

Ya im not applying to anywhere if I get accepted to MIT. I might apply to Caltech early too. But most likely I wont get accepted early, so Ill try a whole bunch of other colleges.

Oh yea and I made the USNCO (like I mentioned above)
but was NOT allowed to take it because I was not a US Citizen (its in the rules).

Can I still write I qualified but I was not a US citizen so I did not take it in the additional info part? Or is that stretching it?

Below average chance given your international student status. What’s the highest level of achievement for you in music and science/math ECs? All state recognition? Anything at Regional-level?

You are probably South Asian (hint: cricket) so that means you’ll have to fit in the top 25% accepted profile to have a legitimate shot at getting into MIT.

^international?

hmm I have a green card? Am I still international? Just not US citizen.

Music we have national (but its a group thing so I dont know how much that counts)
Well AIME is national but its not that great considering theres something else above it
Siemens is hopeful regionals (regional finalst)

The weird thing is that Siemens Semifinalist is national, but Regional Finalist is regional even though Regional Finalist is better.

If I could include USNCO that would be great.

i think you have good chances. I would definitely write that you made the USNCO but were not able to take it because you aren’t a US resident.

So I have a big quesiton:

Am I counted as an international?

I am NOT a US citizen but I am a US resident (green card)…I was not able to take USNCO because I was not a citizen, but when I apply to colleges, will I be counted as an international?

Thanks

Dude, just saying… regional finalist for Siemens is a huge assumption to make.

^I know I never said I would win it (in my initial post I said just consider not winning anything).

He asked if I would win any awards that were regional and I said possibly Siemens

I think you would be counted as an international, please correct me if I am wrong.

^Haha then Im def. not getting into MIT.

Btw, DataBox, I apologize for any comments I made on your chance thing.
