Chance Me for Top Tier Schools (Ivies and the like) - Second Sem Junior

Let’s start with:

First off your 5.0 - you just explained 3 of your 8 classes are on a 4.0 scale. So you can’t have a 5.0 wgpa in total.

Second you have not qualified for AP Scholar with honors…

@ClarinetDad16 I meant as an Academic Weighted GPA. My school splits between all subject (“unweighted”) and academic (“weighted”) - only my core academic classes go on a weighted scale.

Also I said I’d likely be an AP scholar with disntiction based on my current grades / scores not that I was already (honors was mistyped too lmao I meant to put “likely” as I only have three AP scores so far)

So that would be two red flags that could easily tank your application.

Perhaps you can share some of the other things you posted that are also exaggerated…

If schools don’t believe you they won’t admit you.

@ClarinetDad16 I didn’t specify the awards I won or the organization name because of online safety reasons ?? This is a public board and I don’t really want random people knowing my exact location. I’ll obviously name them on the application. Volunteer hours are accurate - on summer I average about 40 hours a week volunteering. I’ve spent the past three volunteering, not including school year volunteering with Young Life and Tri-M.

With that profile, yes that would get you in, SCEA to Harvard, but I see some flags, no Hispanic clubs or National Hispanic recognition program…hmmmmmmmmm. Anyway if this profile is accurate you are a lock at any school you apply to. Everything is a match, because you hit all the hooks (except legacy) and clearly have the academics. Write a decent essay and choose the school you want to go to.

@CU123 I took the PSAT sophomore year, so I don’t qualify for the national Hispanic recognition program. I feel like starting an organization to help undocumented immigrants (mainly latinos in the area actually!) would be worth more than Spanish club

@agood2000 Like I said, if everything is accurate, choose a school and you will get in. JMHO. BTW don’t blow off the essays that is the only thing that could prevent you from getting in, they don’t have to be great just good.

Also, a profile similar to yours that got accepted to quite a few schools and who you may want to ask questions of @LindsayHarvard

@ClarinetDad16 Why the salt? If the kid is lying, then he gets rescinded. If he isn’t, then his counselor will describe how his school calculates GPA in their report and submit a transcript… There isn’t much motivation for someone to lie

It’s not just the wgpa. It doesn’t add up. Too many flags that would spook an admissions reader.

@ClarinetDad16 It may not add up but I think you would agree that any school is a match for this profile.

Yes a profile in which a student is playing in the strings session in the orchestra as well as in the woodwinds. And vocal. Doing All-State for all of them? Plus marching band and jazz. And winning national music competitions.

Plus simultaneously being a varsity athlete in two sports and a club sport athlete in 4. Sports that can damage an award winning musicians hands.

And wait let’s not forget Musical Theater, An Editor of the School Newspaper, leading clubs that win national competitions. Plus a slew of community service.

And time to practice multiple instruments at a nationally ranked / champion level?

And time to study / self study for AP exams, Many subject tests …

and go to classes
Maybe even sleep?

This mystical, magical profile is unparalleled.

Bravo and truly wish him the best of luck.

@ClarinetDad16 literally i’ve been practicing those instruments since i was 7/8. newspaper, choir, band, orchestra are all CLASSES during the SCHOOL DAY so yeah i would have time for them. musical theatre is only about a few hours everyday after school for a month (march to april) and a week or so of tech. (i only do spring musical and i have ensemble roles.) most of the community service i do during summer and i self-study during summer as well and roller derby is just a three week summer thing i attend. sports practice is in early mornings for lacrosse + volleyball… field hockey is weekends. the base level clubs i listed meet at most once a week.

you sound like a conspiracy theorist (damage my hands ?? now there is a REACH you wear gloves in lacrosse and field hockey and i’m not a setter for volleyball i’m a libero, so i mainly use arms except when serving) why are you so bitter??

also i’m a girl so she pronouns would be good yeah

Yes it is. I am not sure I could come up with a better one if I tried, but it is illustrative.
