Chance me for UC's + some privates?

Hi! I’m a current senior hoping to major in CS. I’m an Asian girl in California BTW.

The schools I’m applying to are: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, UCSB, SJSU, Cal Poly SLO, Purdue, UIUC,
University of Rochester, UIUC, UT Austin, UW, Northeastern University, Boston University, Santa Clara University, and RPI.

I’m applying EA to UIUC, UT Austin, Purdue, SCU, and Northeastern BTW.

UW GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1500

Junior year I took all AP’s, including 2 AP sciences and 2 AP math classes. I have taken on an extremely intense workload.

Senior year schedule:
APCS A
AP Chemistry
AP Literature
AP Gov
APES
Linear Algebra at CC since there are no more math classes at school.

EC’s:

  • Tutored for 2 years (pre-calc)
  • Volunteer at museum
  • President of Indian Club
  • Treasurer of Speech & Debate
  • Summer Immersion at GWC
  • Made an app
  • Participated in hackathon

Hooks:
None

Thanks

Please calculate your UC GPA and post capped weighted and fully weighted: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

You have excellent test scores and you EC’s look good.

@Gumbymom Full Weighted GPA: around 4.4
UC Capped: 3.95

Thanks!!

Your SAT score is around the 75th percentile or higher for all the UC’s, but UC capped weighted is a bit low for the top UC’s. Your EC’s and essays will play an important role in your chances for UCB and UCLA which are tough admits.
You have a good chance at the majority of the UC’s. SLO will also be a tough admit with a less than 10% acceptance rate for CS and can be as difficult to get into as the top UC’s.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 (capped weighted) and not major specific:

UCB: 14%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 44%
UCSB: 54%
UCD: 58%
UCI: 65%
UCSC: 85%
UCR: 94%
UCM: 96%

Best of luck.

@Gumbymom Thank you so much! For Cal Poly SLO, I was wondering if I should apply as an SE major or CS. Do you have any advice on that?

I think that if you apply for SE, then you are a solid match. Definitely worth consideration if SLO is a top choice.

@Gumbymom Thank you so much!! If it’s not too much of a hassle, would you mind looking at my other post when you have time? I’d really appreciate it:)

In order to really have a reasonable idea on your chance at least at Cal Poly, you’ll need to calculate your MCA. Go to post 52 in the Confused About MCA thread pinned at the top. The GPA you use is different than any other school. Use the CSU calculator and include 9th grade.
