Chance me for University of Texas Austin and Texas A&M

I am currently in an International IB school and is in 11th grade but I will be moving to Texas to an AP school in 12th grade so I'm not sure if I'm counted as an international applicant or an in-state applicant (I hold Indonesian citizenship but I've lived in Texas for more than 5 years before). I've also skipped a grade and is on a half-tuition scholarship. I take around 4 HL classes and 2 SL classes (the maximum is 3 HL classes and 3 SL classes but I've been given special permission).

I've only taken the SAT test once and I was really sick at the time (had a terrible fever and flu) but I'll re-take the test again in May and in June or July. I want to take the Mechanical Engineering, the Petroleum Engineering, or the Biomedical Engineering major.

SAT scores (as of January 2014):
CR: 620
Math: 620
Writing: 550

IB score as of last semester (all scores are out of 7):
English Language & Literature A HL: 7
Bahasa Indonesia B HL: 7
Biology HL: 6
Chemistry HL: 5
Psychology SL: 6
Math SL: 3

TOTAL IB SCORE: 34/42
(NOTE: My school does not give out ranks)

What are my current chances in UT and A&M? If I don't make it into those schools, what are some other optional universities that I can apply to in Texas? Thanks.

Also some additional information…

Clubs/Extra-Curriculars that I’m taking part in:

 • Accomplished more than 75 hours of Community & Service
 • Been on Varsity Volleyball for 2 years
 • Saman Dance (Indonesian Cultural Dance)
 • Model United Nations
 • Flea Market Committee
 • Grade Level Assembly Committee
 • Debate Club

Unfortunately, I don’t think your current SAT score is high enough for those disciplines at these schools. These engineering disciplines are in high demand at these schools. Good that you are taking the SAT again and take the ACT as well. One of my daughters was sick on the day of the SAT and retook it too. On the SAT, you will, most likely, need at least above a 650 Math score and over a 1300 combined math+ CR for A&M and that is if they assign you a top quartile rank. For an ACT score, you are looking at over a 30 composite score with a high math score for A&M. UT engineering requirements are even higher with SAT averages, I believe, they said in the 700s for math. Another school that would have the engineering disciplines you are looking for and would match your current scores would be Texas Tech. Good luck on your tests!

I think you’re a reach for Austin because of your SAT score. Your ECs are decent but i dont think its enough to make up for your SAT.

Reach for both because of your SAT score.

Chance me back: <a href=“**Chance me for good and rising Northeast schools ** - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1612160-chance-me-for-good-and-rising-northeast-schools-p1.html</a></p>

Does anybody know the SAT score range for me to get into those two colleges? Texas Tech is my third choice but I’m trying to prioritize UT Austin and A&M.
