This is considered a very rigorous course load at my school.

ECs/Volunteer work
-Have had a lead in 6 shows since my Freshman Year of high school, including THE lead this past year. We are a very renowned theater program in the state, and are recognized as a very competitive and established theater program. Keep in mind that a show takes the equivalent time dedication as a varsity sport.
-I am co-chair for a service program run by town officials, a lot of time and dedication, I lead 24 other students doing various community work, planning social events, and more.
- I co-founded my church youth group.
-Running for Vice President of Drama Guild next year.
-Got a full time summer job as a nanny (or a manny... haha) for two boys 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, 8 weeks.
-Have been in at least 3-4 shows a year since 4th grade. ~20. I've been a lead in probably 12 of those shows.
- 11 Years of town league baseball and 1 year of JV volleyball (Had to quit due to injury)
- Take summer courses at MIT for Neuroscience, Statistics, and Photography.

VOLUNTEER WORK:
- Over 70 Hours of community service at a local theatre company for kids.
-Community service with youth group: 45 hrs
-Community service with town service group: 55 hrs (1st year without being co-chair, will significantly increase)
- Helped with a group of 6th grade boys with a youth service in town to take them on field trips after school (i.e. bowling, golfing, etc) this past year, will do again next year. ~ 20 Hrs
-Total Volunteer Hours: 190-200 hrs.

What schools would be good reaches/matches/safeties for me? I'd like a relatively big school with a lot of opportunities and fairly prestigious. My top two schools as of right now are NYU and USC, if that gives you any idea.

Bump

10 char

Any idea of your rank/percentile? That’s much more important than GPA (as most colleges look in context of your high school).

As such, assuming you’re top 10% of your grade:

USC - Probably in
NYU - Probably in
UCLA - Possible
Georgetown -Unlikely but possible
Pitt - In
BC - Probably In
GW - In
University of San Diego - In

@ synny201

Thank you! My school does not report rank or percentile, but does report a distribution graph. I’m on the top end, but not the very top bar… My freshman year, as you can tell, was sub-par and therefore my GPA isn’t really indicative of my high school success. That being said, the only graph that has been distributed to us is cumulative of freshman and sophomore year, not junior. I’m hoping that I am in that top bar come this summer, but we’ll see.

If you manage to hit the top bar, use the stuff I said above. Given you’re just below the top bar:

USC - Possible
NYU - Possible
UCLA - Possible but unlikely
Georgetown -Unlikely
Pitt - In
BC - Possible
GW - In
University of San Diego - In

thank you!
